Hello June! This month is just the best. It’s usually pretty warm, Jimmy and I celebrate our anniversary, and summer officially begins. Should be a good month! 😊
Here’s what’s currently going on in my life this month! Please share what’s up for you in June in the comments section. I love hearing what you’re up to!
Current books A memoir about living in Paris, a Bible study on contentment, a daily book about joyful living, and book six in the Bridgerton series! Mordecai always requests books in this clever series and Sadie and I are starting book three of the Zoey and Sassafras series.
Current food Spicy harissa sauce! Excellent on chicken wings and pretty much anything, in my opinion. 😉
Current drink Sunsera coffee beans and Prime Hydration.
Current laugh I was at the store with the kids and bought cooking spray. Mordecai saw it in the cart and said “You bought me silly string?!”
Current fun Going to our local pool! We brought my mom along one evening and all three kids had a blast. I even got to swim a few laps!
Current scripture A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1
Current home product The best glass cooktop cleaner!
Current baked good Lady locks! I was asked to bake cookies for a wedding this month and I practiced making them. They’re a Pittsburgh staple at weddings!
Current beauty product Shampoo with a rose scent.
Current dog products An undercoat rake and our pet hair roller. ‘Tis the season for shedding. We have “husky glitter” everywhere.
Current win Sadie and Mordecai had a lemonade stand. I feel like it was the cutest real life math and socialization lesson all wrapped up into one!
Current goal Tackling our junk drawer. I haven’t organized it since December and it’s getting, well, junky again!
Current song OKAY! by Forrest Frank
Current craving Thrifting! I went the other night with the kids and found Dakota two summer outfits (one with tags still attached!) and a skirt for $8.05.
Current kid product A genius popsicle holder. I’m convinced a mom invented these.
Current prayer For my nephew, Lawson, to heal! He fractured his elbow at the playground and is now sporting an adorable red cast.
Current cuteness Dakota exploring Lowe’s. She cried in the cart until I relented and set her down on the ground. She had the time of her life walking around and checking out the plants.
Current blessing Summertime. Our kids. Sunny days. Catching up with Jimmy after he gets home from work. All the little things that are actually big things. ❤️

I always like hearing what others are reading! I’ve heard so much about Bridgerton. Would you recommend them?
I hadn’t heard of lady locks before. We have a similar biscuit/pastry here but I think it’s called something different. The photos remind me of Italian cannoli. Are they similar?
Maybe Dakota’s a budding gardener! I would cry too if I couldn’t explore the plants 😄 Garden centres are dangerous places for me haha, I always end up spending some money on a new plant or two.
This month I have a trip away to the beach with my mum and the dogs. I’m so excited for it and the chance to relax and spend quality time with her.
When I get back from the beach, I have two trips to London for work in the same week! I very rarely need to go to London (haven’t been in two years) but now these two meetings are just three days apart 😆 They’re going to be long days!
Enjoy celebrating your anniversary ❤️
ME TOO!!! My ears (or eyes if I’m reading a blog haha) always perk up when I hear someone discussing a book! I didn’t get the hype over Bridgerton but decided to just try the first book… and here I am on the sixth one! It’s funnier than I thought and I will say some of the scenes are slightly steamy (just a forewarning) but I would recommend the series if you like historical novels or romance!
Ooo! They are called all sorts of different things… lady fingers, lady locks, clothespin cookies. They are very close to cannoli (minus the ricotta cheese filling!). Now that I think of it… they’re close in flavor to a cream puff! Are you familiar with that? I wonder what pastry/biscuit you’re thinking of because I am now very invested hehe.
You cracked me up about crying over plants!! Have you ever grown lavender? I kinda of want to have a few pots of it on our front porch!
I hope you have the BEST time away with your mom and the dogs!
Ahh, London! That sounds soooo fancy to me! And exciting! I have never been on a work trip, so that sounds so cool to me!
I do like historical series, especially Georgian-era ones. Anything Jane Austen gets my vote. I’m looking forward to the new adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.
And Little House on the Prairie, too! The Netflix series is being released next month. My mum read all the Little House books to me as bedtime stories when I was around 7–8. Do you think Sadie would like them?
We have cream puffs here, but we call them profiteroles in the UK. After some Googling, I figured out what I was thinking of is known as a “cream horn”.
Yes, I love lavender. It smells so gorgeous and the bees love it too. I have a pot of it outside 🙂 Maybe I should do a blog post with a little walk around my garden. It’s small but I’ve crammed it with plants!
Thank you 😊 It will be a refreshing break! Fingers crossed for good weather, as it’s quite rainy at the moment.
Hope your week gets off to a good start.
I think you would enjoy Bridgerton, then!!
I keep meaning to dive into Little House with Sadie! I believe I have the first book sitting on her shelf (I got very excited and acquired it before she was “ready” reading-level wise) just waiting for us. I have *such* wonderful memories of that series. I think she would be interested, too, because she is into survivalism.
I totally went down a rabbit hole of research about cream puffs/cream horns/lady locks/profiteroles. It’s so, so interesting the names we have in different countries for similar foods!
I would looooove to see a little tour of your garden! I need to live vicariously through your garden because we can’t have one with our digging dog. 😂
Have a lovely weekend!
Love the pic of Dakota wondering through the garden center at lows and Sadie & Decky with their lemonade stand.
Dad
They’re all having such a great summer 🙂
Love you!
