Beef Stew


3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 tablespoon dried basil
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1/2 tablespoon salt
1/2 tablespoon celery seed
1/2 tablespoon paprika
1 pound stew beef, cut into 1-inch cubes
3 cups water
1 medium onion, diced
3 medium carrots, sliced
3 celery stalks, chopped
2 large potatoes, cubed

1. Coat the beef with flour. Heat oil in  large soup pan on medium heat and add the beef; cook until browned on all sides.
2. Combine the spices in a small bowl and stir them into the pan. Add the water.
3. Bring to boil and cover. Reduce the heat and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Add vegetables; simmer 45 minutes or until beef and vegetables are tender, stirring occasionally.
