Hello! Well, the experiment I decided to try out has been nothing short of amazing. I thought I’d give a little update and confirm that I haven’t gone off grid yet 😉

As I mentioned, I read How to Break Up with Your Phone and loved it. Using my phone less and analyzing my relationship with it led me down a pretty cool path and had so many benefits like…
- Because I wasn’t staring at my phone as much, I was more present and focused on my actual life and the people in my life.
- I’m pretty sure I read more books in the past month or so than I did in all of last year.
- I had this huge burst of creativity. I’ve been crafting my little heart out–watercoloring, wood burning, card making, and more.
- I’ve had time to pursue more of my passions and just think more. Baking, writing, creating, and simply daydreaming have been happening a lot more around here.
Reading more has been wonderful. I read two books that really sparked my interest. One was about being a mindful consumer and the other was about financial independence through simple living. Basically, the gist of what sparked my interest is that we as humans get to choose how we spend our time, attention, and money. I know, crazy concept, right?
While logically I have always known that, putting it into practice in our culture today is a lot harder. I’ve found it’s something I have to really think about. If I’m not considering how I want to spend my attention, time, and money, I’ll default to whatever our culture says I should spend it on.
Thinking about my values and goals and whether or not they actually line up with how I’m using my time, energy, money, and attention has been eye-opening. I’ve been working on making sure I’m living the life God would want me to live, not what our culture automatically dictates.
So, that’s the update on the JOMO experiment. I may be here on the blog a lot less, or I may not. I’ll see where this journey continues to take me 🙂
I’ll probably be back with a regular ‘ol life update soon!
