Life Lately

I feel like it has been a long time since I just popped in here and wrote about whatever random things are on my mind and going on in my life. So, here I am!

Life has been busy and good and so blessed. Our days look a lot like the picture below…

Laundry, Mac, and baby toys on bed

Laundry, work, and baby toys strewn about. Lots going on and lots of goodness. We have been having so much fun with Sadie. I feel like she’s at a really great age. She’s able to sit up and play with toys, but isn’t crawling all over the place yet ๐Ÿ˜‰ She’s also teething, which has been so tough on her. We’re going to try out an amber teething necklace. I’ll report back on how it works!

We are working hard on our garden, loving the warm(ish) spring weather, bird watching all the time, working on house projects, and spending time with family.

Jimmy and I went out to eat alone the past two weekends and it was glorious.

The food was great, but the conversation was even better. We are so blessed to have family that is willing to watch Sadie so we can have time together as a couple!

House projects galore have been happening around here. I cleaned out our bathroom vanity and it feels great to have it uncluttered! I plan on organizing my baking supplies next.

I kind of want to rearrange where I keep everything in our kitchen. I think I want to keep all my flours, yeast, sugars, etc. in my line of sight so I’m prompted to bake more ๐Ÿ™‚

Hannah graduated from nursing school! I won’t tell you how much I cried during her graduation. I’m just one proud big sister over here. I can’t wait to see her become a mom any day now!

Speaking of motherhood, I had a great first Mother’s Day! Jimmy and Sadie do such a wonderful job of making me feel cherished and loved every day.

I even got spoiled with a new bird feeder and a bag of seed as my Mother’s Day gift and it has been extra special to see all the birds come to the fancy new feeder!

We heard two great Mother’s Day sermons at church on Sunday and one on the story of Hannah really resonated with me. She was infertile and prayed desperately for a son. God answered her prayers and she was obedient by keeping her promise to God and giving her son Samuel to serve Him.

What really struck me was how our preacher noted that Hannah viewed motherhood as the highest calling and a privilege. On tough days, it can easy for me to slip into thoughts like “I’m just a mom” or “I have to do this” when I should be thinking “I’m so blessed to be a mom” and “I get to do this.” Just the way you think about a situation can really shift your perspective, you know?ย It was a blessed first Mother’s Day and I can’t begin to describe how thankful I am that God made me a mom to Sadie Mae.

Now we’re looking forward to our nieces arriving very soon and getting the garden planted! More on that soon ๐Ÿ™‚

What would a picture of your life lately look like?

Happy Resurrection Sunday!

Hi and Happy Resurrection Sunday! I wanted to share an article form our church’s newsletter that one of our preachers, Dave Provance, wrote about Jesus. I thought it was perfect for today. Enjoy ๐Ÿ™‚

Jesus Christ is Incomparable

On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, โ€œWhy do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee:โ€˜The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.โ€™โ€ Then they remembered his words. When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. Luke 24:1-9

Who is like Jesus or comparable to Him? He is the Living One, risen from the dead. He is incomparable! He is beyond any manโ€™s equal, matchless, unsurpassed, the Divine Son of God!

  1. More than two thousand years ago Jesus was born contrary to the laws of life. He was born of a virgin.
  2. As He grew into manhood He lived in poverty and was reared in some mystery.
  3. Jesus did not travel much out of Palestine. Once fleeing from King Herod He went to Egypt and another time He went into the district of Tyre and Sidon.
  4. Jesus never possessed wealth or influence.
  5. Jesus never received formal training or education.
  6. In childhood He puzzled the Scribes, lawyers, and doctors of the Law.
  7. In manhood Jesus ruled over the Laws of nature, He walked upon the billows of the sea as if they were pavement and told the sea to be calm.
  8. Jesus healed the multitudes without medicine and He did not charge anyone for His services.
  9. Jesus never wrote a book, yet thousands of books have been written about Him.
  10. Jesus never wrote a song, yet He has inspired more songwriters than any other person that has ever lived.
  11. Jesus never started a college, but all the colleges put together cannot boast of having as many students.
  12. Jesus never practiced psychiatry and yet He has healed more broken hearts and minds than all the doctors in the world.
  13. And on the first day of the week multitudes make their way to assemble around His table and remember His death, burial and resurrection and to proclaim His death to the world until He comes again.

Almost two thousand years have passed since the crucifixion of Jesus Christ our Lord, yet He still lives. Annas the High Priest and the Jews, Pilate and the Romans, Herod and the devil and his forces could not destroy Him. Death and Hades could not hold the Divine Son of God.

Jesus Christ stands forth upon the highest pinnacle of heavenly glory, proclaimed of by God, acknowledged by angels, adored by saints and feared by the devil and his fallen angels, as the LIVING ONE, RISEN FROM THE DEAD! Jesus is alive forevermore seated at the right hand of God our Father in heaven – and He is incomparable!
