Bonfires, Bible notes, and busy little feet pretty much sum up our week! We’ve been cooking, creating, spending time in God’s Word, and soaking up the simple moments that make summer at home so sweet.
Let’s catch up on the moments that have filled our days lately!
Busy Little Feet 👣
We brought the kids to Rural King this week and their busy little feet ran straight to the chickens!
Mordecai’s busy little bare feet stepped on a bee when he was playing outside. Poor buddy. Sadie heard him crying and carried him home. How sweet is that? His first bee sting and his big sis took care of him. Playing with Play-Doh cheered him right up!
Koko has been all over the place with her little Croc-clad feet!
Sadie’s feet must have been tired because she was happy to have daddy carry her into church!
Bonfire 🔥
We had a little bonfire night on Sunday evening complete with s’mores and snuggles!
It was one of those perfect summer nights where it was cool enough that a bonfire felt lovely, the kids were happy to romp around the yard giggling, and I even managed to read a chapter in my Bible. The best kind of evening!
Kitchen Fun 🥣
I was sorting through my sprinkles and found candy eyeballs. I decided I needed to feed the kids lady bugs. They were so appalled when I asked if they wanted to eat some lady bugs! Once I showed them, they gobbled them right up. 😉
Jimmy asked if I could smoke brisket. I bought a corned beef brisket and realized I bought the wrong cut of meat. I made the corned beef in the crock pot, though, and it was delicious! Next, we’re borrowing my sister’s meat smoker so I can make a proper brisket!
Have you ever smoked meat?
Bible Notes 📖
I finally decided to store all of my Bible journaling supplies in a basket so I can drag it around the house with me. All my pens, stencils, markers, tape, notebooks, and my Bible all live in a nice basket I sometimes even take outside!
I’m now reading chapter 10 of Nehemiah. I’m not going to know what to do with myself when I’m done studying this book! 😂
What have you been learning or studying lately?
Other Notes and Thoughts 📝
- Scripture I’m loving: “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Matthew 16:15-16 🙏🏻
- Recipes to make: black-bottom cheesecake and mini cannoli bites. 🥣
- Whenever I catch myself doing or expecting too much from myself, I stop and ask myself: Is this how I would treat my sister? If the answer is no, then I know it’s time to offer myself the same grace I’d freely give someone I love. 💛
- Mordecai loves doing this interactive car puzzle that also sneakily teaches him geography! 🗺️
- The other day, Sadie was telling her friend how much she loves our drive to the Outer Banks because I pack a basket filled with books, activities, and snacks for the trip. I couldn’t believe she remembered that from last summer. It reminded me that the little things we do for our kids often leave a bigger impression than we realize. 🙌🏼
- I took the kids on a walk recently, and we passed our local daycare just as the children were loading onto a school bus. Both Sadie and Mordecai stopped dead in their tracks to watch. As homeschoolers, buses are completely fascinating to them. It made me laugh because something so ordinary to one child can be endlessly exciting to another. 😂
- Mordecai put his pants on all by himself the other day so we had a dance party and all of the kids got a cookie to celebrate! 🎉
Thanks for catching up with me today! I’ll be back soon with more of my usual rambling. 😉
