Hi and happy January! I hope you’re enjoying a fresh start to a new year!
Here’s what’s going on around here this month ๐
Current books Main Character Energy, Real Food for Gestational Diabetes, a Bible study on Job, and Sadie and I are reading Emily’s Cupcake Magic together before bed each night.
Current drink I got Jimmy a coffee sampler box from Etsy for Christmas (I know, I’m sneaky and got him a gift that also benefits me ๐) and I’ve especially loved this blend from it. Also loving a good ‘ol iced vanilla latte from Starbucks!
Current food Just made a batch (I almost wrote “bath” there LOL) of pulled pork. I am forever trying to nail down the right cut of meat, cook time, and seasoning. Once I get that down pat, I will share a recipe! Also enjoying lots of corn muffins, energy balls for the kids (oats + PB + honey + chocolate chips… recipe coming soon!), and sloppy joes.
Current fun Playing in the snow with the kids! Pittsburgh has been getting snow here and there and it’s just magical (mostly, lol) with little ones. They love it so much and it certainly gets me outside… otherwise I’d be huddled under a blanket ๐
Current baked good Ugh, honestly not much! Gestational diabetes is killing me right now. I am going to look into some alternative flours so I can still bake and enjoy my sweets ๐ I’ve been enjoying peanut butter granola, though!

Peanut butter granola recipe is here!
Current indulgence I got a facial! My mom and dad gave me a gift card for Christmas and it was so nice to go out by myself and do some self care. Thanks mom and dad ๐ฌ
Current confession Itโs early January and our house is decked out for Valentineโs Day. Love it!
Current laugh Jimmy snuggled up under Sadie’s Hello Kitty blanket!
Current need A bed blanket! We have one right now, but it’s just not warm enough for these Pittsburgh winter nights (it was 17 degrees when I woke up this morning and our house was 63… brrr!).
Current craving Doing some crafting with Sadie! She got me this mosaic kit for Christmas (how sweet is she ๐ฅฐ) and I can’t wait to use it! I also want to make hot cocoa bombs and shower steamers with her. She also requested we bake Valentine’s Day cupcakes together, so we’ll make that happen soon!
Current obsession Getting our house in order and tidied up after the holidays. Always feels so good!
Current blessing Sadie and Mordecai. I love them so much. I love their relationship with each other. Just everything!
Current mood Happy and excited for 2025!
Current beauty product Dazzle Dry nail polish system. I am amazed at three things with this: how fast it dries, that it’s non-toxic, and how long-lasting it is. I pained my nails on December 25th and didn’t notice a chip until January 5th and I use my hands all. day. long. Also loving this conditioner. It makes my hair feel so soft!
Current cuteness My dad and Mordecai wearing matching shirts! I got them for the boys for Christmas and I think they look so nice ๐
Current home product This handy battery powered scrub brush. Definitely feeling very adult-ish for being excited over a cleaning tool, but this thing is awesome! Great for small crevices and grout.
Current procrastination Making an Amazon return. I bought a handheld vacuum for our car (in an effort to vacuum out dirt and crumbs more often) but the suction wasn’t strong enough! Just need to find the time, or *make* it, to get out and do the return, lol.
Current joy Documenting our everyday life. We filmed a vlog recently and I can’t wait to share. It includes how we spent a snowy day, the kids favorite recipe lately, and me testing my blood sugar ๐
Currently makingย Baby boy chocolate covered Oreos for Etsy orders ๐ฉต
Current goal Getting in a good groove post-Christmas and New Year’s. It’s a struggle to get back to “normal life” but it also feels good to be back in routine, if that makes sense?!
Current kid product Mordecai is enjoying this reusable sticker book (seen in this post!) lately and Sadie is into clay!
Current question Do you have a big pantry or deep freezer (or both?!). I am always so back and forth on “stocking up” on food like canned goods/snacks/paper goods etc. that we eat or use a lot or getting a deep freezer to store meat and frozen vegetables… but I am also such a minimalist, our house is t-i-n-y, and I’m so afraid of having a deep freezer and then losing power and everything going bad! What’s your take on it all?

Gotta love โค๏ธ Jimmy using that hello kitty blanket!
Love โค๏ธ You!
Dad
๐
I thought it was too cute!!!
Love you soooo much!
When you’re done with the Job study, I’d love to borrow it!
The energy balls / bites are a huge hit in our house (dad and I love them!)
Sadie and Deck’s relationship is the cutest thing – they adore each other, and it’s so amazing. I feel as if they will always be so close!
Dad and Deck in matching shirts is the CUTEST! I love that you thought of that as a Christmas gift for dad! He’s so proud ๐
We have a pantry and deep freezer (very small one). I believe if we lost power, the meat and other frozen goods would be fine for quite a while if its not opened a lot. I really recommend having both!
Love you,
Madre
