Happy New Year! I hope 2020 is a blessed year for each and every person who visits this little corner of the internet. Does anyone have any big plans for the year? I want to hear all about them if so ๐
Here’s what’s currently going on in my life.
Current books So. Many. Books! I’m reading Ephesians in the Bible and have quite a random conglomeration of books on our bookshelf. Cookbooks to fuel my baking/sourdough addiction: Flour Water Salt Yeast, The King Arthur Flour Cookie Companion, and Modern Jewish Baker.
My sister read Parenting by The Book and had is sent to me (Thanks, Hannah!), my dad is having me read this commercial real estate book for work, and I’m almost finished with Stones for Bread.
Currently looking forward to Gardening. I know, its only January. I just miss our garden so much! I’m already dreaming of what we’re going to plant this year.
Current project Joining the National Marrow Donor Program. I got this random feeling that I should donate bone marrow, so I signed up to be a donor in case I’m a match for someone! I sent in my cheek swab kit and should be an official member in a few weeks.
Current drink Death Wish Coffee. What a name, right? Apparently it’s some of the strongest coffee out there. It’s smooth and tasty, and I’ll take all the extra caffeine I can get.

I think it’s funny that I drink it in a cocker spaniel mug. I guess that kind of negates the hard core factor of drinking it ๐
Current fun Planning family nights. Jimmy, Sadie, and I had a family night once in November and December and enjoyed a special meal and activities and decided to make it a monthly tradition! Maybe for January’s family night we’ll take Sadie for a sled ride on a local trail if we have snow!
Current question What do you go through more of: shampoo or conditioner? I’m pretty sure I go through about three bottles of conditioner per bottle of shampoo. Or do you use them evenly and I’m just weird?
Current beauty product Mackenzie mentioned Invisibobble hair ties and I had to try ’em! The verdict? I may never go back to regular hair ties again.
Currently baking Everything, all the time. Still baking sourdough almost daily, the cupcakes and cake I did for a birthday party went well, and I tried out a new cookie recipe! I’ll have to do a separate baking post because I have about 800 pictures to share ๐
Thank you for sharing Allie Love ๐ you!
Dad
๐
Thanks for reading, Dad! I love you! โค
I am currently excited to start the new year off with healthier eating and more walking outside.
Those cupcakes look amazing!! You make the best ๐
Awesome! Thanks, mama! Love you โค
I think it’s amazing that you joined the bone marrow donor program. What a gift!
On a lighter note I absolutely use twice as much conditioner as I do shampoo!
I look forward to seeing everything you plant this year! Maybe it will inspire me to at least grow a few front porch herbs again this year. ๐
Thanks, Rach! I can’t wait to see what happens with that adventure!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who uses a bunch of conditioner versus shampoo!!
I hope you get a chance to grow some herbs this year ๐
Thatโs so awesome you are doing bone marrow donation! Itโs so needed โค Please keep us updated on how the process goes if you can! I am curious to hear.
Yayyyy! I am so glad you like the invisibobble hair ties! I was so skeptical about them, but now cannot stop singing their praises!
Ohhh I could go for one of those cupcakes right now. Mmmm! Thanks for sharing, Allie !
I absolutely will! Once I’m in the registry they will contact me if I’m a match for someone and then I’ll go from there! I guess the chance that anyone is a match is like 1 in 400 or something, but you never know!
The invisibobbles are a-mazing!!! I’m hooked. Thanks for introducing me to them ๐
Thatโs so exciting!!! I canโt wait to hear more. And yay that makes me so happy ๐
Im trying to read the entire bible this year and i am working on being more kind๐๐๐๐คฃ๐๐โ๐
That is awesome, Nathan!!!
Ooo, I need to try that Death Wish coffee! I think I’ve seen it at the store before but, was a bit afraid of it lol. Love that you guys are going to do a monthly family night. ๐ I rarely ever use conditioner so I go through shampoo much quicker. Make sure you are only conditioning the ends of your hair & not your whole scalp! I need to try those invisibobbles, too! & I am super looking forward to your upcoming baking post! โค
I hope you get to try it, Hunida! It’s great! If you can handle espresso, you can handle Death Wish! I’m so pumped for the family nights! So funny you go through shampoo quicker than conditioner! I totally learned the hard way with using conditioner only on the ends…. I had a greasy mess for a day, lol. The invisibobbles are legit!!
Oh man, I hope I can find it at the store. I can’t wait to try it. ๐ Lol I totally learned the hard way with conditioner, too! I just thought maybe that’s why you were running out so quickly. ๐
Hope you’re having an awesome week, Allie!
