Stuffed Cabbage, A Vlog, and Majestic Pets

I’m coming at you with yet another random post title! Let’s start with stuffed cabbage. Have you ever had it? I had not had it or heard of it until I met Jimmy. It was something he grew up eating on the regular.

Stuffed cabbage

I was asking him recently if there were any special dinners he wanted me to make and stuffed cabbage topped the list! I first posted his mom’s recipe for these delicious cabbage rolls in 2011 (!!) and when I made them this weekend, I was filming a vlog of our day and managed to take an updated picture, too.

So, the video below shows how I make them (starting at 2:46 in case you don’t feel like watching the randomness of our family 😉 ), the recipe is here, and the photo above is what they look like!

The vlog was fun to film and even more fun for us to watch! The last time I filmed a day in our life was in November, four days after Mordecai was born. A lot has changed since then… but also not much. The season is different, but our chaos is the same! Mordecai and Sadie are a little bit older, but still so fun and sweet 💜

Last but not least, we have our pets. Jimmy took a picture of Niva sitting in the yard and I think she looks downright majestic! She had been groomed that morning and was sporting a cute bandana.

Later on, we were playing with Sadie at our kitchen table and Malcolm casually hopped into Jimmy’s arms. He also looked majestic… or maybe like a mob boss? A mini panther?

All right, with that randomness off my chest for the day, I am going to get this day started. My niece is coming over to play with Sadie and I have a dentist appointment. I’m not looking forward to visiting the dentist, but excited for Sadie to have some cousin time!

What are you up to today?

Have you ever had stuffed cabbage?

Smashing Eggs, Drinking Coffee, and Notes from Life Lately

Spring has arrived! Hurrah! I’ve been seeing lots of forsythia, daffodils, and even some tulip stems starting to crop up. Each evening, I’ll randomly look outside, check the time, and announce “It’s 7:54 pm and it’s still light out!” and feel so pleased.

I’ve been trying to get the kids outside as much as possible when the weather cooperates (and even when it doesn’t!). We went to the park yesterday and Sadie wanted to run races.

We would pick a spot to start and finish and then “race” each other. The simplest things make her so happy. She asked me to tickle her last night and you would have thought she won the lottery. I tickled the living daylights out of that girl! (more…)
