Happy January! A fresh new year to learn and grow and love.

Here’s what is current in my life this month! As always, please share some of your answers in the comments. I love hearing what everyone is up to!

Current books Jimmy and I have been studying the book of James in the Bible each morning! My sister and I joined a book club and will be reading Atomic Habits first. I also pulled out all of Sadie’s Valentine’s Day books already 🙈

Currently looking forward to Starting therapy work with Niva. I have my handler orientation on Sunday evening and then we can start visiting!

Current excitement Mordecai used sign language to sign “more” for the first time this week!

Current food Peanut butter. Surprise! Haha. Jimmy got me Nuts ‘N More wild honey peanut butter for Christmas and I finished the jar by New Year’s Day. As soon as I finished that jar, I ordered the toffee crunch flavor and it’s wonderful.

Current drink We’ve been drinking Ethiopian coffee beans from a local coffee shop (Nicholas Coffee Co.) lately. We picked up a bag when we stayed the night downtown and it’s a great reminder of our little trip each morning!

Current baked good Biscotti. I made some chocolate biscotti for dessert to go with coffee when we had friends over for dinner this week. I also have an order for coconut biscotti dipped in chocolate to make this weekend. Can’t wait!

Current home product I just love these pens! For me, there’s nothing like a fresh new set of colorful pens.

Current cuteness The kids and I went to my mom and dad’s house to hang out one day this week and we kept finding Mordecai in the doll camper they have!

Current joy This season! Winter and cold weather isn’t my favorite but I try to enjoy each season as much as possible. When it gets dark early, I love that I read more. I burn more candles in the winter. Baking keeps our house warm and cozy. We’re supposed to get snow this weekend and I’m excited to see if it will be a storm or just a dusting. I’m almost hoping for several inches so we can take the kids out in our sled and make a snowman.

Current beauty product An awesome hair mask that smells like a day at the beach.

Current laugh I love warming up a heating pad before bed each night in the winter. I microwave it for a few minutes and then snuggle up in bed with a book. My old one was taking longer and longer to head up, so Jimmy gave me a new one for Christmas. I guess I was still thinking it was my old heating pad because I put it in the microwave for a long time and it burnt. Oops! Our microwave started smoking and the house smelled so bad 😂

Current goal Getting outside with the kids as much as possible. It might take us more time to get their hats, coats, and mittens on than we actually spend outside but it’s worth it!

Current pet product Niva was at the vet recently and was diagnosed with Lyme disease. The treatment is a month of antibiotics and pill pockets have come in handy for getting her to take her medication!

Current craving I want to take Sadie to a local ceramics/pottery studio and paint together. She deserves some one-on-one time and crafting fun.

Current fun Planning out the year. Dreaming of travel, weekend activities, and projects has me so excited for the year ahead.

Current kid product Mordecai loves this mess-free finger paint set and Sadie has been having fun with a fashion design art kit.

  1. I snuggle with a heating pad every night before bed too! I genuinely look forward to it each evening lol. Glad I’m not the only one! 🥰

  2. Yay for new peanut butter flavours!

I hope you get snow this weekend. We had a dusting at the start of December and it was very cold one night (-10 Celsius which is about 14 F)!

Winter isn’t my favourite season either, I always look forward to the winter solstice in December when the light slowly starts to return. But I remember the joy as a child when it started to snow, so I hope you all have a fun time.

    1. It’s so much fun to try new flavors!

We ended up getting a couple of inches of snow today! Just enough to take the kids out in the sled 🙂

I am with you on not *loving* the cold and looking forward to more daylight 😉

  3. SO many fun things!!! I love that you do so much with the kids, and always try new products (and keep me updated on good ones!)
I could never in my life plan an entire year out – I struggle with just one day LOL
    Love you,
    Madre

    1. Aww, thank you! I try to do all sorts of things with them and just have fun! They’re only little for so long and man does it go FAST! I love that we both try new products (often together haha) and share! It’s my fave! Love you so much!
