A Date, Bounce House, and Mini Golf

It has been a while since I blogged about sourdough! Who remembers Lyle, my starter?! My sister texted me recently and said she wanted to learn more about sourdough baking so I passed along my favorite sourdough book to her.

Friday afternoon found us playing in a bounce house in our yard! My mom and dad decided to buy one for all the (eight!) grandkids birthday parties in the coming years and we wanted to test it out.

Jimmy and I squeezed in a date night that evening thanks to my mom! We went to The Waterfront, which is a shopping and dining area in Pittsburgh. Of course, we got a couple of hours away from the kids… and promptly shopped for pajamas for them 😂

I didn’t take any pictures from the night; I just wanted to be present and catch up with Jimmy. It was nice to walk around in the summer evening air and just talk!

Jimmy was at a work day at our church on Saturday and Sadie hung out with her cousins.

So it was me, Niva, and Mordecai for most of the day. I put Mordecai in his baby carrier on my back and we walked Niva before it got too hot out. Then we went to the pet store and got her a treat. I did a few chores while Mordecai napped: changing the bedding, mopping the floors, pumping, cleaning our windows and doors, and lint rolling the couches.

Once Sadie and Jimmy were home, we jumped in the hot tub together and read Ivy and Bean. Sadie also tested out a new pair of goggles and loved ’em!

We throw Paw Patrol toys all over the hot tub and she swims around to “dive” for them. She was shooketh when *mom* went underwater and collected all the toys in one breath 😂 Made me miss my swimming days for a second there!

In the evening, we went mini golfing as a family! The weather was perfect and the mini golf course wasn’t overly busy. It was a fun little outing 🤍

Today is Sunday! I started the morning with a pumping session and baked some cinnamon rolls for a special treat.

Then it was off to church. Mordecai was a bit fussy this morning and has been doing some ear tugging. Fingers crossed he doesn’t have an ear infection!

I’ll be doing some cupcake baking for an order today and then we’re headed back to church this evening.

Tell me about your weekend!

Do you have any Labor Day fun planned?

  1. Aw! I love your posts that share all the fun you guys have as a family. That mini golf course sounds fun, and I’m glad it’s nice to y’all!
I know it’s going to be extremely hot today (Labor Day) in the ‘Burgh, so I’m going to do all my outdoor hard work quite early.
Sadie’s swimming and diving skills have broadened immensely since her lessons this summer! I’m so proud of her ~ and I’m glad she likes her new goggles!
    Love you
