It’s somehow the last full month of summer already?! I am trying to squeeze in as much fun as possible–outings with the kids, relaxing as a family, and more.

Mom with kids at Pittsburgh Zoo

As always, here’s what’s current for me this month. Please share what’s current for you in the comments!

Current book(s) He is Strong by Emily Jensen. I had read and loved Risen Motherhood, who Emily Jensen was the co-author of. Once I saw she had released a devotional, I had to grab it. I am really enjoying it! Sadie and I have been reading the first book in the Unicorn Academy series each night.

Current food We ordered dinner in from Firebirds the other day and it was great. I got their wood grilled salmon and it was perfectly cooked and just so delicious!

Current fun I brought the kids to the Pittsburgh Zoo. I got free tickets through a program with our library and the tickets were only for one specific day. Well, it was a rainy morning… but it cleared up by the time we got there. The rain must have scared people off because it felt like we had the whole zoo to ourselves. We had such a great time! I just love doing things like that with the kids 🥰

Current drink I just finished an iced vanilla latte from Starbucks as I started typing this post.

Current beauty product I bought this body scrub for Sadie and I to use and we both love it! Bonus points because it’s Hello Kitty.

Current baked good A charity asked my little bakery to make a donation basket of baked goods for a cystic fibrosis fundraiser, so I’ve been working on that. Also listed fall chocolate covered Oreos on Etsy!

Current kid product Ticonderoga pencils made especially for kids. Sadie uses them for her schoolwork and drawing.

Current goal Getting Sadie’s school year prepped. We’ve been working on schoolwork here and there over the summer, but we’ll be doing daily homeschool starting at the end of this month. I need to have a look at the calendar and her curriculum and get to planning!

Current home product Washing machine cleaner. So exciting, I know! I’m always amazed at how much grime this gets out of our washing machine. I try and use a pod at least monthly, or even bi-weekly.

Current cuteness Sadie and Mordecai having a picnic together in our backyard. They decided they weren’t into peanut butter and jelly for some reason?! They ended up playing with their water table and had a blast.

Current need New socks. I can’t remember the last time I bought a pack and mine are all starting to get holes in them!

Currently looking forward to Taking the kids to the Aviary and Pittsburgh Botanical Garden. Checking off all the fun activities in the next couple of weeks!

Current laugh Sadie made a “pool scene” for her stuffed animals out of garbage.

Stuffed axolotl and cat set up like a pool scene

Current excitement Planning the next couple of months… Sadie’s birthday party, a possible trip to the beach, baking projects, etc.!

Current craving I’d love to go get a pedicure. My end-of-summer feet are in desperate need of some love.

Current question What laundry detergent do you use? I’m thinking of switching ours and would love to hear what everyone uses and likes.

Current joy Being Sadie and Mordecai’s mom!

  1. Awww thanks for sharing Allie! I always look forward to reading your blog posts :)) And to answer your question about laundry detergent; For a long time I was trying to find a more natural detergent that got the job done and wasn’t super expensive. I stumbled across Molly’s Suds liquid detergent and I looooove it. It works great and it’s very concentrated so I don’t have to use much at all. The only downside is it doesn’t leave my clothes with that “clean laundry” smell once they dry. Recently I was missing that smell so much that I caved and went back to my trusty ol Tide detergent and Downy fabric softener duo… 😂 But I still go back to Molly’s because it has been my favorite more natural detergent! I definitely recommend it.

    1. Thank you, Hannah!! Also, thank you for the laundry detergent rec! I am going to look into Molly’s Suds!

I know what you mean about going back to “normal” detergents! Right now, I use Ecos Free and Clear detergent…. but Downy fabric softener hahah. It’s a balance 😉

  2. your pics are always so amazing! The kids also make great models so🤷‍♀️

I agree – Firebirds is the BOMB!!
I love the zoo- I look forward to going with you guys soon (plus I know the parking lot is HUGE, and I know my way home from there 😂😂😂
