Strollerblading and Celebrating

We’ve had a memorable week over here! From rollerblading to fevers, a book launch, and plenty in between, life has kept us busy and given us lots to celebrate along the way.

Here’s what life has looked like around here lately!

Book Joy 📖

Thank you to everyone who has shared in the excitement about What’s True About You!

It has been so cool, humbling, and special to receive pictures of people holding the book I wrote!

Strollerblading 🛼

Any time we’ve had some decent weather lately, I’ve taken the kids out on their wheels!

Sadie used her rollerblades (hadn’t done that since January!) and pushed Dakota in the stroller. She called it “strollerblading” haha. She actually got going pretty fast! I think having the stroller to hold onto helped her. They did fall once, but got right back up. 😉

I couldn’t let them have all the fun, so I slipped on my rollerblades, too! I really love rollerblading. It feels like the first spring in a while where I’m not pregnant or early postpartum and can do fun things like this!

I think I got a little too confident in my rollerblading skills, though. We brought my mom to the skate park on the next warm day we had and I did what Jimmy told me not to do… I brought my rollerblades. I also did what Jimmy predicted I would do… I fell! I landed awkwardly on my leg, but I think I’ll be okay. Lesson learned: I can’t go as fast as I think I can down ramps at the skate park. 😂

Dakota had a great time wandering around the skate park!

Have you taken any falls lately?

In the Kitchen 🫐

On the baking front, I made lemon blueberry granola. Recipe to come soon!

A customer ordered cupcakes for a graduation party! Some were lemon with blueberry filling, and others were blueberry with lemon filling. They were all topped with vanilla buttercream and handmade chocolate graduation decor.

I also put together a mixed berry pie. It was sort of like my cherry berry pie, but without the cherries!

Not pictured: chocolate chip cookies! We went to Sarris Candies and I picked up some baking chocolate. I tried out a chocolate chip cookie recipe that called for vinegar (!!) and the cookies turned out really well.

Out and About 🦷

Sadie went to the orthodontist this week. I got to peek at her x-rays and whoa are her adult teeth crowded in there! There’s no room for some of them to come through, so the plan is to place an expander to widen her mouth.

She may still need to have some teeth pulled down the line, but an expander will give her a better chance of not having as many teeth pulled as Jimmy did when he was a child (he said he had about 11 removed 😳).

As I said earlier in this post, we visited Sarris Candies! I was on the hunt for some baking supplies.

We also went bug hunting. The kids had nets, magnifying glasses, and containers to catch bugs. The kids caught a few ants and I tried to catch a bee which stressed them out because they thought I’d get stung! I didn’t… and I didn’t catch a bee, ha.

We went to one of our favorite parks.

Baby girl walking in field

Dakota is go-go-go since she started walking. Send help!

Kids playing Jenga at Public Lands

Jimmy had to grab some fishing gear for an upcoming trip so we went to a sporting goods store called Public Lands one evening. Our big kids played Jenga and Dakota gave me a run for my money as she walked all over the store trying to get into everything!

Baby girl at the park

We went to another park. Everyone left tired and happy!

Baby girl at Rural King looking at baby chicks

I brought the kids to Rural King to look at the baby chicks. Dakota was enamored!

Toddler boy and baby girl at library

We visited the library, too. Dakota kept leaning back on the chair and I was cracking up. She is becoming more silly and playful lately!

Baby girl sitting in stroller with blanket

Dakota was cranky just before her bedtime so I took her on a quick walk around the block to try and calm her down. She put her blanket over her face like I’m done! I was thinking me too, girl, me too. 🤣

Everything Else 😊

Our poor little guy was sick! He had a high fever (up to 104 😭) for a couple of days. It was so random and the only symptom he had. Praying nobody else comes down with it!

Toddler boy sleeping couch

Mordecai figured out how to climb onto our windowsill and loves sitting there to watch whatever is going on outside.

Mordecai fell asleep on the drive into church and wanted to keep snoozing on Jimmy’s shoulder!

Jimmy showed Sadie all of his childhood Pokemon cards and it was endlessly entertaining for both of them!

Other Notes and Thoughts 📝

  • Scripture I’m loving: Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
  • When we went to Sarris, we told Mordecai where we were going and he asked “Is that where the Eiffel Tower is?” and I realized he confused Sarris with Paris. 🇫🇷
  • Just restocked our favorite whitening toothpaste! 🪥
  • I’ve been making an effort to connect with Sadie on her level so we’ve been playing Mario Kart together each night. She usually beats me. 😆
  • Loving this Dawn dish spray! Something about spraying dish soap makes cleaning dishes easier?! 🧼

Thanks for following along with our adventures lately!
