Current book(s) I finally got a new Bible! After going back and forth and not knowing what I wanted, I settled on this one and I absolutely love it. I’m reading the book of Daniel at the moment. Still reading this, almost finished with this book on modern maternity care, and Sadie is enjoying this lift-a-flap book.
Currently feeling Totally freaked out that Sadie turns a year old next month. Fastest year of my life.
Current laugh I used Snapchat filters on my parents while I was at their house recently and scream laughed (my favorite type of laughing) at the one that makes a guy look like a girl. My dad as a girl = hilarious.
Current blessing Medical care! Sadie and I got hit with the thrush monster (again!). We last had it when Sadie was a newborn, so I almost forgot about how painful it is. This time, it started to turn into mastitis, which was not fun. Thankfully Sadie’s pediatrician and the midwives I had her with were quick to prescribe medicine and give advice. Living in a country with excellent medical care is a blessing that is not lost on me. So thankful.
Current craving A trip to the pet store with Mavis and Sadie. We’ll see if I’m brave enough to wrangle the two of them 😉 I think it would be a great little outing for us girls.
Current fun My parents and I took Sadie swimming at their local YMCA and it was so precious to watch her swim around with my parents!
Current beauty product I was using and loving this Aveeno exfoliating facial scrub but ended up making an emergency trip to the eye doctor recently because one of the exfoliating beads got stuck under my eyelid. I still get the heebie jeebies thinking of the eye doctor flipping my eyelid up and getting the little bead out. She recommended I switch to something without an exfoliant, so I’ve been using this face wash and it’s great!
Current joy Being a family with Jimmy and Sadie. Most of our family pictures look like the one below and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Current food Roasted red pepper crackers from Aldi. I’m slightly obsessed.
Current baked good I have a hankering to make corn bread or corn muffins.
Current drink Iced coffee. We’ve had our Keurig for six months and I just used the iced coffee function on it for the first time the other day. What was I doing with my life?!
Current baby product Baby dolls! Anyone remember these old school dolls?! My sister gave Sadie one of her old dolls and she’s so sweet with it! She hugs it and whispers to it. We save it for car rides since she hates getting in her car seat, lol.
Current goal Using my phone less. I’ve been trying to use is as little as possible and it’s so freeing and really helps me stay present.
Current excitement We’re having Jimmy’s family over for dinner this week to celebrate his brother’s birthday. One the menu? Grilled pizza!
Awesome update!
Thank you Allie!
Thanks for always reading and commenting… and letting me use Snapchat filters to make you look like a girl, lol!
Love you! ❤
I love these Life Lately posts of yours, and I really need to jump on the bandwagon and start doing them too… HA! 🙂 They’re so much fun to read!!
-Your new Bible is beautiful! Nate bought me one a few years ago, and I am in love with it. (It’s not the same as yours, but it too is pretty and for women). I just feel so happy picking it up in general… and then reading it – of course – is what gets my day started on the right track. (I missed some devotions last week, and I FELT it). Gotta get that Bible study and prayer time in!! 🙂
– When I first saw the Snapchat pic, I totally just took it for granted that it would be a picture of a friend of yours. HA! That’s too funny that it’ really your dad.
– Okay, so that exfoliating scrub story had me cringing, because I am NOT a fan of anything near my eyes. *shiver* That is SO horrible, and I had no idea that something like that could happen!! I ‘just’ started using some Origin products that Sephora gave me as a sample, and I’m in LOVE! I’ll definitely do a blog review in a few days to let everyone know how they are, but so far they’re great. I feel as though the skin on my face could use a good scrubbing (it’s been awhile since I’ve used one), but I’m hoping the mud mask I’m using will have a similar result. Ha, ha.
– Iced coffee is my FAVORITE drink ever, and I drink it even through the cold winter months. I told Nate that maybe I’ll change things up this winter and start to drink hot coffee, but he doesn’t believe me. And I don’t believe myself either… HA!!!
– And I’ve been putting the phone down a whole lot more too. I agree, it makes the day feel more peaceful and real, and I am more present as well.
Awesome post, my friend!!! 🙂
Thank you, Nicole! I hope you jump on the bandwagon and do some life lately posts! I know I would love to read yours! You always have so much fun stuff going on 🙂
Yay for loving new Bibles! I am so with you on FEELIN’ it when I’m not in my Bible and praying. LOL about the snapchat picture! I can’t believe how real their filters make people look!
I can’t wait to read your review for all the new skincare products you’ve been trying lately! I always hear Origin products are amazing, so I am excited to read what you think after trying it out!
Cracking up about Nate saying he doesn’t believe you will drink hot coffee this winter! You are a true Northeastern gal! How do you make your iced coffee?!
So Nate and I purchased two containers that hold coffee in the refrigerator for several days without it going bad… So we actually always brew a couple of pots for the week. Nate heats his up in the microwave, and I keep mine iced. 🙂 Hmmmm, this would be a good Life Lately segment. Gonna have to blog about how we’re making our coffee these days! 🙂
The exfoliating bead under your eyelid sounds awful! YIKES! I’m so glad the doctor got it out, but still.
That family photo is absolutely on point. Love it.
I love that Sadie is so sweet with her new little doll. How adorable. ❤ Also, I just cannot believe that she is about to be ONE. Do you have plans in the works for her first birthday?
It was so freaky!! I had never been more glad to go to the eye doctor in my life!
I’m glad you could understand the family photo being on point of real life, ha! Sometimes the most imperfect pictures are my favorites because they’re so real 🙂
I am in total shock that she’s going to be one NEXT MONTH! HOW!!!! Totally planning her first b-day party! I am super pumped to do a smash cake! It feels like just yesterday we were talking about first b-day parties for your sweetie pie! Times flies when you’re having fun!
The exfoliating bead under the eye story is making me question my exfoliating wash. Haha! I’ll be really really careful.
I’m so glad that you and Sadie both got quick medical attention to address the thrush. Ouch! I’ve thought of that recently – how fortunate we are to have access to medical care. I’m reading a YA fiction book that I bet you’d enjoy – Catherine, Called Birdy by Karen Cushman and it is set in medieval England. Let’s just say they don’t do medicine like we do today! You should read the book though. Very easy and quick and good.
Whoa – a one year old next month. That’s totally unbelievable!
It was not a fun experience! Definitely watch out for those beads near your eyes, lol!
Amen to how fortunate we are to have quick access to medical care. It’s such a huge blessing!
I am going to look up that book right now!
I can’t believe Sadie will be a year next month. It’s wild!
Hi there, just wanted to let you know one nominated you for the versatile blogger award. Have a great evening. Here’s the link. https://thecoffeemamma.wordpress.com/2019/08/13/my-versatile-blogger-award/
Thank you so much!!! ❤
Oh my goodness, getting an exfoliating bead under your eyelid sounds horrible!! How did that even happen?! I had no idea something like that could happen. I don’t even wear contacts because putting anything in my eyes freaks me out haha!
I love that your Keurig has an iced coffee feature!! How handy for the summer months. Iced coffee is so good and addicting. 🙂
It was freaky! I guess when I was washing my face a bead got in my eye and got stuck under my eyelid. I am the same as you… anything going in my eye freaks me out!
Iced coffee truly is so good!
LOL your dad as a girl is gorgeous!! 🤣 I am so creeped out about the bead under your eyelid from the scrub! That sounds so uncomfy & I can’t imagine having my eyelid flipped to get it out… yikes!! So glad nothing terrible happened to your eye.
I love the family photo ♡ you 3 are so cute & the iced coffee looks yummy. I didn’t know Keurig’s even came with that option, how cool! I would love to try grilled pizza– hope you all had an amazing dinner. ♡
Hahaha I will have to pass the compliment on to him! I was so thankful nothing happened to my eye! I hope that incident doesn’t happen again, though!
The grilled pizza dinner was fantastic!
I just got on board the iced coffee train too! Haha, I used to make fun of friends who got iced coffee (“it’s just ice!”) but with the extremely hot weather we have right now, I have in to the cold side, lol!
And grilled pizza sounds awesome rn!!
Isn’t it crazy how good iced coffee is?! Love it!
The grilled pizza was fantastic 🙂
