Currently: August 2020

Welcome to August! Here’s what’s currently going on in my life this month.

Current joy Gardening. Walking out to the garden to see how all the fruits and vegetables are growing is one of my favorite parts of each day.

Yellow and cherry tomatoes and zucchini from vegetable garden

Current book The Story of My Life by Helen Keller.

Current memory verse Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9

Current indulgence Walking around a store by myself. Jimmy put Sadie to bed last night and I spent a while just walking around Target and totally zoning out. I came home with a box of cereal and Jimmy was like “That’s all you bought after all that time there?!” haha. He didn’t understand how I can go to a store and enjoy just looking at stuff without the pressure of a fidgety toddler.

Current cuteness Seeing Sadie with her cousins and friends at the Youth Summer Days our church had at a local park yesterday. The time with other moms + watching Sadie enjoy the park and her friends and family = a winning combo for us girls.

Current mood Reflective. I feel like I’m due for a post on my thoughts about motherhood lately because they’ve been swirling in my brain lately and I need to write (type?) them out.

Current craving Time with Jimmy. He’s planning on taking a staycation at some point soon and I cannot wait. Can you tell my love language is quality time? 😉

Current fun I painted Sadie’s toenails for the first time the other night!

Current food Bunny grahams have been super tasty in a bowl of yogurt before bed each night. Also loving English muffins topped with runny eggs.

Current blessing Help from family. I went to the dentist the other day and my mom offered watched Sadie for me. It’s such a blessing to have help and love from my family! Just knowing that my family wants and asks to spend time with my child is such a wonderful feeling ❤

My mom and Sadie are bffs. Also, us girls have gone to stores together and had people ask if Sadie and I are both my mom’s daughters. We always get a good laugh out of that.

Current drink Starbucks Veranda Blend. I know a lot of people think Starbucks coffee is a bit bitter, but I’ve found this blonde roast to be extra smooth.

Current prayer For Sadie’s eye to heal. I mentioned she has a nasolacrimal duct obstruction and was prescribed some antibiotic eye drops to try and treat it. I’m praying the drops work so we don’t have to do anything more serious.

Tell me something current in your life!

  1. Good morning Allie,

All that you shared is so precious! I can just imagine Sadie sitting still while you paint her toe nails!

    Love 💕 You!
    Dad
    🙂

  2. Ah, the joys of wandering a store alone. I’m with ya.

Yay for painting Sadie’s toes!! Love it. I bet it made her feel really special.

I hope the drops are working on her eye! I bet they will.

    1. I was totally thinking I was the only one who enjoyed getting away and wandering stores. I am really glad to hear I’m not! I was feeling kind of bad about it!

It was so much fun to paint Sadie’s toenails! When I wandered around Target, I saw Piggy Polish, which is a safe nail polish brand for kids! I might have to get some of that if I paint her nails again 🙂

She has been so great about the drops lately! Praying they do the trick!

  3. Lovely photos! 🙂 I hope you’re enjoying the summer. Those tomatoes look good!

Something current in my life is my application to do a Master’s degree. I’m still thinking about whether to do it or not… it would be a lot of work alongside my job but I think I would enjoy it!

    1. Thank you, Grace! I am enjoying summer so much. I’ll be sad to see it go!

I wish I could box up tomatoes and ship them to you. There’s nothing like the smell and taste of garden-fresh tomatoes in the summer 🙂

I want to hear more about your Master’s degree application!!

      1. The summer is definitely going quickly. I can’t believe we’re in August already! I love autumn though, but I’m not looking forward to winter this year if the Covid crisis is still ongoing (and it looks like it will be 😦 ). It’s so much easier to deal with social distancing and meeting up outside in the warm weather.

I’ve been thinking about doing a Master’s for a while and an idea came to me after I volunteered to help refugees. If I go ahead with the application, I would be studying how to support refugees who are learning English and different ESL teaching practices. 🙂

  4. I’m new to WordPress and just discovered your lovely page ! Your August sounds like it’s going to be lovely ! I keep trying to get my other half to learn about love languages but he manages to zone out after a few minutes – just like you at target 🤣

  5. How is her eye now?? I hope the drops helped!

So glad you had some much needed solo time. A box of cereal is a perfectly reasonable single purchase. 😉

And hilarious about people asking if you and Sadie are both your mom’s daughters! That’s a compliment to all of you! 🙂
