Hello and welcome to Friday! Today’s post is all about the good things in life, like cornbread, crafting, and more!
Do you have any fun plans for the weekend? I have an iron infusion today and my dad is coming along to help out while Sadie stays with Jimmy at his work. It definitely takes a village to coordinate childcare during medical treatments, but I am so thankful for all of the help, love, and support from family.
Okay, let’s dive into the favorites for this week!
Perler Beads. Did you ever do Perler Beads as a child? I recently came across these and it brought back so many happy memories from my childhood. I would work on little projects for hours and my mom would patiently iron all of them for me (thanks, mom 😉). I got some for Sadie and while she’s still a little young yet, she (and I!) definitely had so much fun with them!
Cornbread. This week’s bread obsession is cornbread! Sometimes I make my own, and sometimes I get lazy and buy a mix. There’s just nothing like cornbread. It’s sweet, hearty, and the perfect addition to any meal. I used this mix to bake a batch of corn muffins this week and they were wonderful.
My mom’s shirt. I can always count on my mom to wear a funny graphic t-shirt. This week’s gem is pictured above. She’s from New York, and people tend to assume New York = New York City. There’s much more to NY than the city, though! She was born and raised in Upstate New York and I can attest to the fact that it’s beautiful there ❤️
More things Jimmy says. Everyone got a laugh out of Jimmy’s gingham/tablecloth conversation last week, so I have another random thing to share that he recently said. Sadie sometimes watches a tv show called Fireman Sam, which is about a Welsh fireman who fights fires. Jimmy watched it with Sadie and was like “Babe… there’s a fire in every single episode. How many seasons can they go on for? How many different ways can you start a fire?!” He’s too much 😂
Devotional journal. I’ve been working through this devotional journal and it’s so good. One of the devotions was about how we may struggle to grasp who we are in Christ, but Satan knows exactly who we are and how powerful we are with God on our side. One of the sentences really stuck out to me: “What a shame it would be for the enemy to believe more about our potential than we do.” Truth. One of the biggest victories we can win is to refuse to live in insecurity. We are threats to the enemy when we understand our gifts and dare to offer them. Let’s stop beating ourselves up and instead beat our opponent 💪
Nesting. We are starting to shuffle furniture around to work on our son’s room and I’m so excited! He’s inheriting Sadie’s crib and dresser, so we had to get her a new big girl bed. I’m super excited to surprise her with it and just ordered her some twin-sized bedding–in pink of course! I’ll try and remember to take some before and after pictures!
Alright, let’s get this Friday going! Tell me your favorites from this week and what you’re up to this weekend.
I honestly don’t remember doing any crafts as a child – at all. I think we only had coloring books and crayons- maybe water paints on occasion. I’m so glad Sadie LOVES doing craft projects as much as her mama.
Amazon has such an amazing selection of funny graphic T’s- I’ll randomly purchase one that makes me smile or LOL.
Fireman Sam was quite the show yesterday- and in typical YaYa fashion- I don’t think I completely watched one full episode (just like sponge bob- still haven’t paid attention to a full episode)
I hope you have a good day- and I love you!!
I’m praying for your infusion today!! I know it’s difficult, inconvenient and just not fun- but it’s for baby boy ♥️ And you to be healthier.
Aww, so sorry you didn’t really get experience crafts as a kid! I feel like it’s kinda magical!
You seriously always have the BEST graphic tees from Amazon and Etsy! My favorite ones are the Yaya ones, though 🙂
LOL about Fireman Sam… and SpongeBob. You’re not missing anything from SpongeBob, trust me!
Thank you for the encouragement for my infusions ❤ Love you so much!
🤣 I Had to chuckle when I read about the nesting! Crazy how that is a real thing!
Love 💕 you!
Dad
🙂
Oh for sure! It’s weird!! Love you ❤
Fun plans for the weekend… YES! The kiddos are having a sleepover at my parent’s house, so Nate and I get a date night. We’re doing dinner and then renting a movie. I just cannot wait! 🙂
Kaitlyn LOVES perler beads!! She’s also into just about any type of craft. I can tell she’s going to have an artistic gift (which Nate, Brady, and I do NOT have. Ha, ha). It’s fun watching her create and design. 🙂
Nate LOVES funny graphic tshirts!!! Three of his current favorites are one that says “Be yourself… unless you can be Tom Brady”, “my favorite kid bought me this tshirt with my own money”… and “Superman wears Tom Brady pajamas.” If you can’t tell, he’s a huge Tom Brady / football fan. Ha, ha, ha!!!
Jimmy’s Fireman Sam comment… Ha, ha, ha!!! It IS true though!
That quote from your devotional journal. WOW!!!!! That’s powerful. It makes me want to invest in the journal to read more. 🙂
I hope that you have a fantastic weekend!
Ooo, I hope your date night was perfect! That sounds glorious!
Too funny that Kaitlyn got the crafting gene. She’s always welcome at our house for craft time 😉
Nate’s shirts are so funny! Loe all the Tom Brady references!!
I am still really loving the devotional journal. Definitely worth it!
That shirt is fun! Reminds me of when people immediately think of Los Angeles/Hollywood when they think of California! Erm, no. There’s so much more to the state, haha!
Yes, exactly!! Most of the parts that are unknown are probably better 😂
I loved those beads as a kid! I had no idea what they were called though. How fun.
I honestly had no idea what they were called, either! I saw them at a craft store and I was like ohhhh! That’s what they’re called hahah!
