Jimmy, Sadie, and I went on a family date to the Washington County Fair on Friday night! It was actually Jimmy and Sadie’s second trip to the fair in two days, but my first time since 2015.
I went to a church event on Thursday night, so Jimmy took Sader Tot on a father-daughter date. They had such a fun time that Jimmy pushed to go again on Friday night and I was on board!
The fairgrounds aren’t too far from the area of Pittsburgh that we live in, so it was a quick, post-dinnertime evening of fun. We parked at the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum and rode the trolley to the fairgrounds.
Jimmy and I both agreed that our favorite part of the night was actually riding the trolley to and from the fair! It was just so serene and interesting from a history standpoint.
Once we arrived, Sadie was super excited to show me all the animals she had seen the previous night! She was pretty fixated on the rabbits, specifically the black ones. Not sure why, but she was diggin’ those black rabbits! We also saw donkeys and pet a few horses.
I wish we could have small pets like rabbits and hamsters but both Malcolm and Niva have such a high prey drive that I wouldn’t trust them. We’re not even sure if we trust Malcolm with fish! If I could have my way, we’d have enough land to have a couple of goats, donkeys, an alpaca or two, and lots of chickens. Maybe someday 😉
Sadie was able to ride a couple of rides. We ran into the conundrum that Jimmy was to tall to ride the kid rides and I was too pregnant, so Sadie had to ride alone. She was a good sport about it, though!
Most of the games at the fair are labeled “kids win every time,” which means you pay for your child to play and they get a prize no matter what. I thought that was kind of cool! Sadie played a fishing game and chose a stuffed owl as her prize.
She slept with her new stuffy all night and came into the living room with it tucked under her arm first thing in the morning. Can she always be this sweet and little?!
We also hit up the petting zoo. That may have been my favorite part of the actual fair. All the animals! Up close! You could buy food or a bottle and feed all the animals. Oh my word were some of them just precious 😍
Just imagine a bunch of kids grinning ear-to-ear while feeding baby goats bottles of milk. Cutest thing ever.
We capped off the evening by getting ice cream! It was warm when we arrived, and by the time we left and the sun was setting, there was the slightest chill in the air. It was a gorgeous summer night!
After grabbing our treats, we hopped back on the trolley and headed to our car. Sadie was sad to leave, but we told her we could come back next year. It’s crazy to think that we will have a nine-month-old this time next year!!
Ahhh all the animals! I would totally be that one adult at the petting zoo trying to pet all the animals and would want to feed them too, haha!
Hahah you and me both, Pree!! I hope we can meet one day because I feel like we are kindred spirits 😬
That is a really nice fair! So much to see!
Love 💕 you

How fun! I love that Sadie got to experience the magic of the fair TWICE this year. She’s at the perfect age. It looks like you guys had a great time.
What a fun time! I love that Sadie wanted to show off all the things she had just seen to you! ❤
