Life Lately

It has been quite some time since I posted a life lately post!

First, I have to say that I cannot believe it’s September. It’s just bizarre.

Anyways. August was a wonderful month for many reasons. I made my blogging comeback, went on vacation with my family, and had fun doing summer-y activities. The past few weekends have been jam-packed with adventure, which has been wonderful.

Fun things I did in August:
-Went indoor rock climbing
-Swam in a wave pool
-Visited the Washington County Fair
-Went out for frozen yogurt (for the first time ever!)
-Swam in my parents’ pool
-Did lots of pet sitting
-Harvested vegetables from our garden

Some pictures of all the fun…

The Washington County Fair was great! I was most excited to see all of the animals, and Jimmy was pumped about the demolition derby, which was a new (and stress inducing) experience for me. One of the cars caught on fire during the derby and I was screaming my head off and pulling at my hair, while everyone else in the crowd was calm and enjoying the experience. I was so afraid the guy in the car was stuck, when in reality it probably took him about 10 seconds to get out of the flames. I am incredibly skittish about all things driving since I was in a serious accident in 2009. Anways, my parents and Hannah were able to go to the fair, too, so it was lovely to spend time with them!

As for pet sitting, I watched Ava and Chloe (in the top picture) for the first time, and hung out with one of my favorite clients, Haley Mae. Ava is a papillon-shepherd mix, Chloe is a whippet, and Haley is a chocolate lab. They each have such different and cute personalities. It’s amazing to see their breed characteristics combine with their natural personalities to make them who they are. Ava adores being touched and having any attention, Chloe is a tug-of-war champ, and Haley is all about playing fetch and sniffing everything in sight. I love pet sitting!

Some of the goods from our garden! I still need to post about our experience. It’s coming, I promise 🙂

Brandy and Lola were reunited when Jimmy and I brought her over to my parents’ house last weekend! Also, Brandy loves to float on rafts in the pool. She’s adorable.

I’m so bummed I didn’t take pictures of the rock climbing and wave pool escapades! Jimmy and I went with friends from church on a Sunday and we were wiped. out. by the end of the day. I hadn’t been to a wave pool or rock climbing in years, so it was awesome to get out and do those things again.

Now it’s September, and I’m working on a fall bucket list. Unreal! I’m still hanging on to summer as long as possible, though 😉

What have you been up to lately?

  1. My sister LOVES the demo derby at the fair. I cannot quite get into it, but I guess it’s a great way to recycle old cars B-) This month has been super full for me too! I blew the head gasket in my car, got a new one, ran my longest run ever, ran a race, survived the return of the college kids and got a new job (actually I got that today so I guess it’s not technically August) God is blessing me!

    1. That’s a good way of looking at the demolition derby, haha!! I saw on Snapchat that you got a new car! That’s awesome! Congrats on the running accomplishments and work stuff, too! It seems like your new job suits you well 🙂

  2. I can’t believe it’s september also!! Time has gone too fast. This always happens for summer and it disappoints me because summer is my favorite season. Luckily for me, summer feels extended because I am in Florida right now. By the way, I really adore your first photo (of the flowers).

    1. I couldn’t agree more. Like seriously, September! Unbelievable! I’m glad your summer feelings are being extended by spending time in Florida! That would definitely do it for me, too ;). Thank you! Hydrangeas are some of my favorite flowers (they were in my wedding bouquet), so when I saw them at a neighbor’s house, I couldn’t help myself! I had to take a picture!

  3. I love your first picture of the flowers, too! I’m jealous of all the pups you get to hang out with. 🙂 I miss my dogs and wish I could have one where I live now! If I had a dog, it has to be less than 25 pounds and I would want one bigger than that. Sigh. My youngest brother loves indoor rock climbing! It is so exhausting haha! Also, can’t believe you’ve never been out for frozen yogurt. I’m glad your life has been changed for the better. 🙂

    1. Thanks, Kylie! Hydrangeas are a favorite of mine, and I even had them in my wedding bouquet, so I just had to take a picture :). They make me happy! I know what you mean about the dog situation. I’m definitely a big dog type of gal, too! Some day you’ll be able to have one, and it will be all the more sweeter after waiting!! Rock climbing is seriously so exhausting! My forearms and fingers were so sore the day after we went!! Frozen yogurt is definitely a positive life changer, haha! I cannot wait to go back again! I need to go again before the weather gets cold 🙂

  4. I’ve always wanted to go rock climbing! Nate and I were just talking the other day and saying that we can’t wait to bring Brady when he’s older. 🙂
(And I would have had the same reaction at the demolition derby! LOL)!

    1. It’s so much fun! Definitely something unique to do, you know?! I love seeing all the pictures of Brady exploring around your house, so I’m sure he would take to rock climbing quickly 🙂
