August Photography Challenge

This blog post should probably be titled “August Photography Challenge So Far” because I’m not quite finished. I started the challenge in Mid-August, so I’m going to finish late. Fashionably late? Maybe.

I decided to complete a photography challenge to get myself out of my comfort zone (aka portrait photography) and capture more of my daily life. I’ve done one photography challenge in the past (here and here), and enjoyed it. This time around has been no different!

Here’s the prompt and photos one through nine.

1. Your handwriting

2. Hands

Is one hand okay? I was beginning to make tomato sauce from the bounty of our garden.

3. Water

Excuse the dirty window. I promise it’s only dirty on the outside 😉

4. A picture of you

5. Something you made

I didn’t make the picture, but I did color it. Yes, I have an adult coloring book. It’s amazing.

6. A favorite place

Home, with Jimmy and Lola. Bonus if the news or weather is on television.

7. In your bag

A water bottle (that doesn’t even slightly fit in my purse), my phone, two coin purses, pepper spray, cinnamon gum, a coupon organizer, and my beloved planner.

8. An activity you love

Mine and Lola’s daily walk.

9. Transportation

Walking is my favorite form of transportation.

So there you have it, the first nine pictures of the challenge. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

  1. Are you doing the challenge in September too?? I have been thinking about diving back into an Instagram photo challenge…. Maybe #fmsphotoaday because that’s what I did last year, but if you’re doing a particular one, I’ll do the same!

    1. I am still finishing up the August one (I’m a little behind, haha), so I might pick one up in October?! I don’t know! I loved when you did the #fmsphotoaday challenge on IG! You were always so creative!

  2. I hated walking until I moved to DC! In Plum you really can’t walk anywhere so I was just always used to being in the car. I still drive a lot of places but where I live in Arlington now is so close to church, the grocery store, other shops, etc! My mom and I LOVE our coloring books and just sent a few to our female relatives haha 🙂 PS I love your black and white photos!

    1. I know exactly what you mean! It’s weird to get used to walking for errands when we’ve always had to drive in Plum! YES to coloring books!! I’m so happy you and your mom are into them, too! They’re so relaxing. Thank you for the compliment on my black and white photos 🙂

  3. First of all, I am soooo glad you’re back!!! 🙂 (I haven’t been blogging as much lately either… So I completely understand how sometimes life happens and you just focus on that, instead of actually blogging about it).
#1. You have SUCH pretty handwriting. #2. I have always wanted an adult coloring book, because I love coloring… but haven’t done it in ages. #3. The owl coin purse is so adorable!

    1. Thank you, Nicole! It feels great to be back :). I totally understand that you’ve been busy, too! Babies always come before blogging! And life! Anyways, thanks for the compliment on my handwriting and the owl purse! I used to HATE my handwriting, but it’s become neater over the years, haha. The coin purse is from the company Thirty One, if you’ve heard of it?! You should totally ask Nate for a coloring book for Christmas… it’s the perfect way to spend the cold winter days!

  4. I love this! These are all so creative! Your happy place made me smile. Your home looks so cozy and inviting! Also, an adult coloring book?! WHAT?! I am looking this up right this very minute! Where did you get yours?
