Hot Cocoa, First Snow, and Other Things of Note

We introduced Sadie to hot cocoa and it’s safe to say she’s a big fan. We had our first cold and snowy morning (nothing accumulated though 😕) so we thought it was the perfect opportunity to whip out some packets of hot cocoa!

After she drank her hot cocoa she played with her dolls by the fireplace and it was so cozy ❄️

A few things of note:

–> I’m embarrassed to admit that I bought our cat a Christmas gift before I bought Sadie anything 🙈

–> Sadie and I were at Walmart the other day and she asked to try on a reindeer antler headband with bells and she was shaking her head to try and get the bells to make noise and it was the cutest thing ☺️

–> I ordered this gratitude activity journal to do with Sader Tot as we prepare for Thanksgiving 🍂

–> I got iron-on glitter letters (to spell Sadie’s name) and a heart appliqué and ironed them onto a plain pink shirt for Sadie. She loves it and it was so easy. I may have found a fun new obsession 😉

–> I made mini meatloaves with ground venison that my sister gave me (from a deer she hunted!) and it was so good! While I’m not a hunter, I do enjoy venison and wild game. How about you? Do you like meats like venison or are you a hard pass on them?

–> My mom watched Sadie on Friday (thank you, mom!) and they played in leaves all day 🍁

–> We are now at the time of year when Niva is most happy: cold weather season. I’m excited for our first big snow so I can see her prance around in it 😂

–> Jimmy is a super light sleeper and takes melatonin religiously each night. We read that taking a magnesium supplement can help you sleep better, so he started taking this and he was falling asleep before me for the first time!

–> How cute is this picture of Sadie and my dad? Also, we were driving to church that morning and Sadie was wearing the outfit below and she said “Mom, I look fabulous like you!” 😂

–> I’m still completely happy, impressed, and pleased with the stand mixer from my sister-in-law. Every single time I use it I just shake my head and smile because I can’t believe I didn’t have one before this.

–> I really want to bake these cookies this week!

–> Sometimes we put Sadie to bed at night and she asks for certain stuffed animals. She has a dragon that she made at Build-A-Bear with my mother-in-law and she told Jimmy that she wanted us to sleep with her dragon. So we took a picture of me “sleeping” with her dragon so I can show it to her this morning. We were taking it and I was thinking yup… this is parenthood. Taking pictures with stuffed animals to make my child smile and loving every second of it.

–> Currently reading this book and it’s a great rags-to-riches memoir.

–> I really with I still had the mittens I was wearing at the bottom of this post (from 2011!) because I know Sadie would get a kick out of the fact that they were mine. I think I donated them because it was getting weird that I was in my 20s and wearing shark mittens while walking my dog 😆

Tell me something of note in your life!

  1. Taking posed pics for the joy of your child is awesome, haha! We have so done that! Also, that picture of her with your dad is precious!
