Current book Recently finished The Magnolia Story by Chip and Joanna Gaines and already want to read it again! Also reading the book of Genesis in the Bible.

Current craving A trip to Hobby Lobby. I’ve been wanting to do some crafting. Maybe I’ll make a trip out this week. I love that store!

Current confession I had to walk about a mile or two to pet sitting one day this week because my truck wouldn’t start and it was such a dumb move on my part. I was walking up this windy hill (with Mavis, lol) where the speed limit is like 40 and the temperature was above 80. I made it safely, but it definitely wasn’t my smartest moment 😉

Current blessing Jimmy, as always. He fixed the fuel pump in my truck and it is now back in working order. He has saved us so much money over the years with his handiness and knowledge of all things car-related.

Current beauty product NuSkin SPF 50 Sunscreen. Jimmy and I got a few bottles of this before we went to the beach last month and I also use it while I pet sit, mow, and work in the garden. It works well, smells great, and doesn’t feel like it just sits on my skin, if that makes sense.

Current obsession Get togethers! We had Jimmy and Josh’s birthday cookout over Memorial Day weekend, and then we had Jimmy’s mom and siblings over this weekend to grill celebrate his birthday. I am just loving spending time with family and firing up the grill. We even set up our little lighted pop up canopy!

Current need More hours in a day. I feel like summer is so amazing and busy and I’d like about ten more hours per day to get everything done and enjoy this beautiful season.

Current goal Getting started on our daughter’s room. We have all sorts of ideas, we just need to get to work!

Current food Dark chocolate almond butter. Also loving all the seasonal produce this time of year like corn, watermelon, and tomatoes!

Current procrastination Organizing our spice cabinet. Currently, we have these magnetic spice tins on our fridge and have other spices in a cabinet and it just feels disorganized. We’ve had the magnetic tins for a few years and they’re starting to show signs of wear. I don’t know if I should replace them or just keep everything in a cabinet. Any ideas?

Current excitement Jimmy finished making our bed and we are loving it! Would anyone want to read a post about it with progress pictures from along the way?

Celebrating Our Boys

I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! Now that it’s Wednesday as I finally type up this post, I’m here to discuss ours 🙂

Jimmy turned 28 on Saturday! My sister’s husband, Josh, turned 21 on Friday, so Hannah and I hosted a cookout at her house for our birthday boys.

Guys in matching outfit

Yes, they planned to wear the same outfit, LOL.

The preparations started on Friday with some baking! I made cherry cheesecake and red velvet cupcakes, as requested by Jimmy and Josh. On Saturday morning, I took Jimmy’s truck to the car wash as a little birthday treat since he loves having a clean vehicle.

Funny story about the cupcakes… we got to Hannah and Josh’s house and someone set the cupcakes on a grill, which was then moved, and the cupcakes fell off the grill! Thankfully, they were in my handy dandy cupcake containers and survived the fall. They just ended up looking a little ugly 😉

For the frosting, I combined vanilla buttercream and cream cheese frosting and Jimmy literally said it was the best frosting he ever had. Too funny, because I only did that due to the fact that I didn’t have enough cream cheese to make a full batch of cream cheese frosting!

The party was such a fun time! We had our families over and grilled chicken, burgers, and hot dogs. We talked, relaxed, the boys opened gifts, and we played kan jam.

Oh, and no get together with our families is complete without dogs, right? We had four dogs at Hannah’s house, and to say Mavis was tuckered out by the end of the day would be a total understatement.

It was so nice to have our families together for the afternoon. Hannah’s in-laws, my father-in-law and his wife, and my parents go to our church, so we all see each other every week, but there’s nothing like sitting down to a meal together and just hanging out, you know?

Also, can you see how adorably Hannah and Josh’s house is decorated in some of these pictures? Hannah has done such a wonderful job with that. I think I need her to give me some pointers because Jimmy and I have been in our house almost four years and we still have some bare walls 😉

It was a great day and I hope our boys went to bed Saturday night feeling loved, happy, and appreciated for the amazing men they are!

The rest of the weekend was just as lovely as Saturday. Sunday was spent at church and Monday was our big garden planting day! I will be back to detail that exciting endeavor soon 🙂
