Chocolate chip zucchini cookies

Currently: May 2017

Current beauty product Supergoop Sun-Defying SPF 50 Sunscreen Oil. My mom subscribes to Birchbox and got this product in a recent box and gave it to me. I’m loving it! It goes on well and isn’t greasy.

Current book Dog Crazy by Meg Donohue. It’s a cute, lighthearted read so far! Hopefully no dogs die in this book or else I will totally cry.

Current food Chocolate chip zucchini cookies. Can’t wait to grow zucchini in our garden soon!

Current craving Getting back into a gymnastics gym. I’ve been practicing my press handstand at home and I’m just dying to get back on the bars, beam, vault, and floor!

Current drink Eight O’Clock Coffee.

Current indulgence Reading through my old journals. I found this–I used to write in Russian all the time! I don’t know why I stopped?

Current confession Jimmy and I have no control over Malcolm. He sits in the middle of our kitchen table while we eat dinner and rests his paw on Jimmy’s plate or tries to eat off mine. When I push him off, he growls at me.

Current need Could I ask you to pray for a young boy at Niños de Mexico? His name is Aldo. He had to have a tracheostomy to remove tumors from his palette, mouth, tongue, and throat. He recently began chemotherapy to shrink the tumors. Please pray that this sweet boy could experience full healing.

Current obsession Taking Lola to the pet store and wandering around! I bought her this food, which is a super cool concept. She loved it. I never leave the pet store without buying Malcolm something, too! I usually buy him Fancy Feast Broths with the little anchovies in it and he chows down.

Fancy Feasts Broths

Current mood Happy!

Current excitement Jimmy’s birthday is at the end of May, Hannah and Josh are getting married in early June, and Jimmy and I celebrate three years of marriage in mid-June!

Current procrastination Folding Jimmy’s work clothes. They’re sitting five feet away from me, but I just don’t feel like folding them.

Current blessing Church family. I love the people in our church so much!

Hannah and cookies

Hannah recently entered a local teen fashion contest. The contest was for teen girls to show how to dress up a basic outfit in an inexpensive way while also providing shopping tips.

She asked me to take her pictures, and of course I said yes. I love being behind the lens of my camera. I’m not sure when Hannah will find out who won, but I do want to share the photos she submitted!

Cookies

This summer has been the summer of zucchini for my garden. The zucchini grew and grew like crazy. I think I still have some to pick.

I have made countless loaves of zucchini bread. I’ve tried every variation, too–chocolate chip, nut and raisin, banana and Nutella. You get the point.

I was staring at a zucchini laying on my dining room table a few days ago. I was in the mood to bake (as usual), but didn’t want to make another loaf of zucchini bread. So I made cookies.

You would think I’d be tired of cookies by now. Nope. Definitely not.

Here is a lovely recipe for milk chocolate chip zucchini cookies.

These cookies are different from “regular” chocolate chip cookies for two reasons. They have milk chocolate chips and they’re super soft. I think the softness comes from the moisture in the grated zucchini.

If you enjoy soft, chewy cookies, definitely try out the recipe and let me know what you think!
