Hey hey! Can you believe it’s June? I am loving the warm weather lately. I think Mordecai is, too.
Let’s talk about all the things I know right now and one thing I don’t know at the moment!
I know Mordecai is afraid of a tunnel at the park. I caught myself thinking he would love this if he wasn’t so afraid to try, and then I was thinking, well, the same is true with me in life. Is it like that for you, too? Maybe not with tunnels at the park, but with something you want to try?
I know I love getting creative with baking. I was asked to do water-ish themed cookies for an upcoming event and I did some thinking and practice and came up with the sugar cookies and chocolate covered Oreos pictures below.
I know Jimmy is talented and handy. He made a privacy screen for our back patio out of cedar wood and I just love it. He’s 95% done. Just need to add a few more planks! My contribution to the project is keeping the kids busy while he works. It has been nice having some extra shade while we’re outside!
I know taking kids into a coffee shop is a gamble, but I think it’s important to take young kids out and about in public places. We went to a local coffee shop this week and enjoyed some enormous chocolate chip cookies!
I know I laughed pretty hard when Sadie put a pink, fuzzy bracelet on Niva. I said it looked like Sadie put Niva on house arrest.
I know I’m silly, but I found a local artist who was able to paint bathroom-themed pet portraits of Niva and Malcolm. I can’t wait to hang them up!
I know my iron is low again. This usually happens to me when I’m pregnant but I’m not at the moment. My doctor referred me back to my hematologist. He reviewed my labs and wants me to be treated ASAP.
So, I’ll be checking into the hospital on Friday for a new (to me) iron infusion. This one is a bit stronger and more serious. Apparently it can cause a lot of reactions and side effects so I have to be monitored more closely and have some pre-medication before the infusion. If it works out, it should keep my iron up for a long time, though!
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous for this new infusion. It’s kinda bringing me back to 2018, when I was pregnant with Sadie and had my first iron infusion and was a little scared! I trust my hematologist, and I know he’s not happy that my ferritin is a 3 (it’s supposed to be in the 100s 🙃). I know I’ll feel better when I’m not so iron-deficient.
What I don’t know is why my body can’t hang on to iron, espcially now, when I’m not pregnant. Maybe I’ll find out more on Friday during the treatment. Right now, I’m trusting that it will all work out and that God has it under control ❤️

I love that privacy screen! It looks so cool and fits the aesthetic of your backyard.
Also, I love when parents take their kids to public spaces. The kids are always cute and even if someone throws a tantrum, I can say that as a stranger, it doesn’t bother me at all. It’s great for kids to be out and about! And even strangers who seem judgemental should remember that they were kids once, too 😂
Thank you! I told Jimmy you said that about the privacy screen and he sat up straighter and smiled!
THANK YOU for being the person who doesn’t judge when a kid is a little cray cray!
I think I’m due for a blood test soon to check those iron levels. Iron is also something I’ve struggled with the past, and I read that women runners are at most risk of losing iron through their sweat!!
Loving those water cookies! 💧
Niva and that pink bracelet – LOL
I hope your levels are okay! I never knew that about women runners losing iron through their sweat! I totally believe that, though.
Hahah yes, Niva’s house arrest bracelet 😆
I can empathize with you on the struggles of a body that seems to never quite settle into itself and just feel balanced. I will be praying for your infusion and that it goes well and is helpful! I’m glad you’re on top of this stuff to know when it might be time for some medical interventions.
You are NOT SILLY. Those pet portraits are amazing. I love that type of whimsical stuff. SO cute.
Having a handy husband is incredible. While I’m not married, I do appreciate when Duncan can fix our plumbing issues. He has now helped my mom with three different problems that have risen. We also went to get a garden trough the other day which would have been way too heavy for me, and he lifted it like it was a blade of grass.
The privacy curtain looks beautiful.
YES! That is the perfect way to describe it! Thank you for your prayers about the infusion. It went well–wahoo!!
I had a feeling if anyone would appreciate the pet portraits, it would be you, hehe.
Duncan is awesome! Seriously!! What a man!
Ugh, I’m so sorry about the iron and needing infusions. My ferritin is usually around 12, which is also low; and I just can’t get it higher either. I can’t imagine it being 3!!! Praying your infusion really helps and that you feel SO much better afterward with no side affects.
I absolutely adore those bath-themed prints of your fur-babies. Just too cute!!!
And I love that you bring your kids out and about to coffee shops, etc. I always did the same, and now my kids know how to act while we do things like that. It was definitely tough at times when they were little. 😉 But it does make it easier when they’re a bit older and know how to behave in such environments. So keep up the amazing work!!! You’re supermom!
Aw man, a ferritin of 12 is still so low! It’s definitely tough! The infusion went well, thank goodness! I was only slightly nauseous and tired after. Whew!
I love that you’re a little bit ahead of me in the mom life gig and it always helps me to see what you do with your kids!
I hope the infusion was successful in raising your iron and you haven’t experienced any / many side effects. I have an issue with low iron too, though not as low as yours. I can imagine it must make you feel very tired, so it’s amazing you do all the things you do while also having low iron. Superwoman!
I think it’s great that you take Sadie and Mordecai out and about with you. It reminded me of when I was training Aimee as a puppy and a local coffee shop was our regular hangout spot to get her used to behaving in busy places. Maybe puppy training and child rearing have some similarities lol!
And I love those pet portraits and the privacy screen!
Have a great week 🙂
The infusion was a success, thank goodness! I was really nervous to have a new one. Thank you so much for your sweet words. You made me smile so hard!
Puppy training and child rearing are eerily similar hahah!!
Hope your weekend is amazing!
I’m glad it was all smooth!
Thank you 🙂 I had a very good weekend — exciting puppy-related news coming soon!
I can’t wait to hear all about your news!!!!
such a great honest post. It’s scary when you don’t know something’s, and it’s ok to be concerned or afraid of things / events too. That’s life 🥰 God never gives us more than we handle- Thank you Lord!!
love madre
