Currently: May 2024

It’s May! I can’t believe we’ll be halfway through 2024 in a month. Wild! May is going to be a busy and fun month for us: lots of birthdays and celebrating in our family. Hopefully lots of enjoying warm weather, too.

Here’s everything that’s current in my life this month. As always, I love to hear what’s going on with you in the comments.

Current books This marriage book and Sadie and I just started the newest book in this series!

Current food Peanut butter and jelly. My ultimate comfort food 🙂

Current baked good I ended up making the cupcakes I mentioned in this post, except I made them lemon with *strawberry* frosting!

Current drink Gatorade had been hitting the spot lately.

Current question Where do you fold your laundry? I fold ours either outside on our patio table, on our bed, or occasionally on our kitchen table.

Current need Health! Our family is coming off a month of sickness that started with pink eye, the flu, hand, foot, and mouth disease, a UTI (for poor Sader Tot), and ended with a lovely stomach virus. I am praying May is better than April in that regard! There’s not much else we can catch, right? 😂

There’s not much more pitiful than a kid with a super high fever 🤒

Current goal Getting a homeschool room together at Jimmy’s work. He and his family own a steel fabrication shop and there’s an old office room set aside that we use to do school a few times a week. It’s such a blessing because we get to spend time with Jimmy and his family during the days we’re there and we have a space to do school.

Recently, Jimmy and I have been making plans to renovate the school room! We purchased a new desk, some organization furniture, paint, and Jimmy ripped up the carpeting. We have a lot of work to do, but I think it’s going to be awesome when it’s ready! I’ll be sure to do a full before/after post.

Currently looking forward to Celebrating! Two of my nieces, my brother-in-law, and Jimmy all have birthdays this month. I have been having fun choosing birthday gifts and getting ready to celebrate the people we love.

Current beauty product When Mordecai lovingly passed pink eye onto me, I had to get rid of all my makeup. I ended up buying this mascara but didn’t *love* it so I’m back to my favorite affordable tubing mascara.

Current fun Painting with Sadie. She has been sick and when she finally perked up a little bit, she asked to paint together. You better believe I sat down and painted with her at 7:00 am!

Current excitement Lots of local orders for my business lately. The Mother’s Day orders are starting, and I have some birthday and baby shower baking to do. Can’t wait.

Current Amazon find This shirt. It’s so soft. I am one of those people who will find an item of clothing they like and proceed to buy it in multiple colors.

Current kid product Kinetic sand. Both of my kids love playing with this and I love that it’s warm enough to bring that mess outside 😜

Current joy I’ll probably be saying this until September, but warm weather! Sunshine. Can’t get enough of it.

Current craving Just time. To sit and think and plan and write and organize.

Current laugh I saw this picture (below) and was like YES. Next time we get a couch it’s either going to be leather or I’m comparing fabric samples to Niva’s fur.

Current home product Our Swiffer. I use this thing constantly.

Current pet product Pawlicious Pet Food. We buy homemade dog food for Niva and Mordecai literally cries when I put it in her dish because he wants to eat it 😂 Thankfully it’s human grade and he would be totally fine if he ate it, but still… it’s for Niva!

Current cuteness Mordecai hugging and petting Niva. He really loves her!

  1. Thanks for sharing all that is going on! We are familiar, some what!

The warm weather certainly lifts the spirit!

    Love You!’

    Dad

    🙂

  2. So random, but I read the currently post from May 2017, and I didn’t know you can write in Russian! I’m Russian and fully fluent, so I read that post 🙂
I love the idea of matching the couch to the dog’s fur. With how much our couch has been vacuumed from dog fur, I’m sure it would be a smart choice 😂
So sorry the babies were sick this whole month. It sounds miserable. You seem to take it in stride and are always optimistic about it, though. They’re lucky to have such a calm mom!

    1. Aww, thanks for peeking back in time to 2017! I wish I remembered how to write in Russian still. It was so fun! I love, love, love, that you are fully fluent in it. Like, could you be any cooler or more talented?!

I really need to match our couch to Niva’s fur. It might save me some vacuuming time haha.

I am soo glad the kids are feeling better! It makes me thankful for when they’re healthy 🥰

  3. I am currently packing for a cruise – which I’m extremely excited about! Padre and I have been married 37 years, and went on a cruise for our honeymoon so it’s always been a special way to celebrate 🎉

I am completely blessed to have a beautiful laundry room with a fairly long counter top to fold my clothes. I’m thankful everyday for it- as you know it used to be called ‘the dungeon’. It’s no longer so daunting to do laundry

    hope you’re all feeling 100%!!
    love you

    1. I hope your cruise is so much fun!

I just love your laundry room now! It’s gorgeous!

I’m on the mend and the kids are doing great, thankfully!

      Love you!
