Our First Thanksgiving As A Family of Four

Well, our first Thanksgiving as a family of four is in the books and it was lovely! We had just broken out of the hospital with Mordecai after his crazy bleeding scare and went to my mom and dad’s house with my sister’s family for the holiday!

I’m so glad my mom offered to host because we are t-i-r-e-d over here! We started the morning with sleeping in as late as possible (read: 7:00 am) and coffee + snuggling in bed 😍

I baked my cornbread to bring and we tidied up the house before heading over in the afternoon. We’re still at the point where it takes us triple the amount of time to get out the door, lol.

Sadie dressed up in her turkey outfit and Mordecai peed through his in about ten minutes but Jimmy snapped a picture!

It was nice to have a change of scenery and extra hands to hold Mordecai. Jimmy and I were able to play with Sadie one-on-one before her cousins came over (and we were chopped liver in her eyes 😂) which was so nice.

My mom and dad soaked in all the newborn snuggles while we all prepped dinner, relaxed, and hung out! Before we knew it, my sister’s family arrived and we had almost as many kids in the house as adults–six adults and five kids!

We enjoyed such a nice dinner! Turkey, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, corn bread, fresh corn, rolls, apple pie, pumpkin pie, and so much more.

I wish I had more pictures of everyone and the delicious meal but I was in a total (happy and sleepy!) newborn haze, lol. It was the perfect day and we left my mom and dad’s house feeling full and blessed! We’ve been dreaming of having Mordecai with us for this holiday and it was so special.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
    his love endures forever. 1 Chronicles 16:34

Tell me about your Thanksgiving!
