I used to run all the time. Like half marathons, marathon training, that one time I accidentally ran 24 miles, 10k and 5k races; all of that. I don’t run much anymore, maybe once or twice a month if the urge hits (I think I burnt myself out from all the past running 😂).
The urge hit the other day and I took Niva on a run and boy was she one happy dog. Siberian huskies are bred to run and pull and she pulled me right along our neighborhood sidewalks until I was tired out 20 minutes later. I don’t know how I used to run for hours?!

If only I would have had Niva through my hardcore running years. She would have been the best running partner though all that training! Oh well. Maybe someday I’ll get back into that hobby 🤷♀️
Guys, it’s almost time for my niece to arrive! My brother and sister-in-law are expecting their baby girl any day now and I can’t wait. How cute is their little family?

They don’t have a name picked out yet. They’re just stumped and are thinking they will decide once they meet her.
Jimmy went to a men’s bonfire get-together at our church last night so Sadie and I worked on prepping the garden for planting. First, we stopped at Lowes to check out what seedlings they’re carrying this year.

We found the usual suspects: plenty of herbs, some jalapeños, bell peppers, tomatoes, and squash. I found orange tomatoes and white eggplant, which seem like something different and fun for this year. Apparently white eggplant is less bitter than purple eggplant.
We didn’t buy anything because we still need to till the plot and put down weed blocking fabric, but we’re hoping to do that this week or next. Can’t wait 😍
Wow, I don’t really remember your running years. (I do remember you swimming!!!). That’s amazing! I’m just getting back into running now that my knee injury seems to be healed pretty well, but I’ve never been a long-distance runner. I usually run 2 miles a few times a week, and then – if I’m feeling motivated – I’ll run one ‘long’ distance of 3 miles. HA! My brother is an ultra runner though, and he has done a 50 mile race. So insane!! I’m impressed with anyone who can push their bodies to do a marathon.
My parents are growing asparagus this year, and I realized – when they told me that – I have no idea what an asparagus plant looks like. HA! So I’m eager to see theirs grow. I usually stick with herbs and a few potted tomatoes, but I hope to get into gardening over the next couple of years. We want to build raised beds this year!
Although my little one is a ‘Kaitlyn’, I’ve always loved the names ‘Katie’ and ‘Olivia’. Those were close seconds when we were thinking of names for our girl. It’s SO tough to pick! With Brady, we just couldn’t think of a boys name; so Nate kind of joked by going through the Patriot’s team players. And when he said “Brady”, I exclaimed, “Stop! I actually love that!” HA!!! And it really does fit our boy so well.
I’ve actually stuck with most of my hobbies, but – then again – I don’t have a ton. For me, it’s mostly been writing, playing piano, photography, baking, and running. I remember that, as a teen, I loved crafting and making my own cards, and I’m not really a crafty person anymoe. So when it comes to doing artwork with paper and glitter, I did let that go.
I can’t wait to find out what your new niece’s name will be. 🙂 Such an adorable family!!
I am so, so happy to hear that your knee is healing and that you can get back to running again!! I had no idea your brother did an ultramarathon. That is so impressive!
So cool your parents are growing asparagus! I feel like it would look like mutant grass?! I hope you get to make raised beds this year 🙂
Katie and Olivia are such cute names for a little girl, and of course Kaitlyn is just the cutest because I “know” a sweet four-year-old Kaitlyn via a blog friend 😉
The story of how you came to Brady’s name is hilarious! I have always loved his name 🙂
Reggie runs like that!
Wears me out a lot quicker because he runs so fast and pulls!
Love you
❤️
Dad
🙂
So glad you can relate to the pulling while running, haha!
Love you ❤
The absolute reason why I want a husky or Australian cattle dog is so that I can run with them! When I volunteered at an animal shelter I made it my mission to run with all the big dogs who needed it, especially the huskies!
Ah, I love that!! Both breeds you’re interested in are truly perfect as running buddies!
I bet Niva was so happy! Has she tried to convince you to take her for a run again? 😉
Ah, so exciting to have another niece coming so soon! Or maybe she’s already here by this point?! Can’t wait to hear all about her!
She has tried to convince me… but I refuse hahah!
No new niece yet… any day now!! I am so excited I can hardly contain it!
