Last time I wrote a day in the life post was in August and on a weekday. So, here’s what our Saturday looked like! I also filmed a vlog of our day 🙂
Our Day | January 16th, 2021
6:30 am I slept in a bit! I have my first cup of coffee and join Jimmy on the couch while we read our devotions. We’re both reading Gospel Conversations and finding it to be really thought provoking and encouraging. I also do a bit of reading in Hebrews, as I’m still studying it.
7:30 am Jimmy leaves for a work day at our church. I eat breakfast and try to get things straightened up around the house before our sweet tornado of a toddler wakes up! This includes answering emails, wiping down counters, making the bed, and whatever else needs to be done.
8:30 am I hear Sadie waking up in her room and notice it’s snowing outside! I let her get her bearings before I go in (I’ve learned the hard way that she needs a second before I bust in and hug her because I missed her in the night, haha.)
After a few minutes, I head in and the first thing she tells me is that she has a pretzel in her bed. For some reason she likes to sleep with a snack under her chest every night and it always surprises her to find it in her bed in the morning. I tell her it’s snowing and she runs to the living room window to check it out.
We spend the next few hours doing morning things: making her breakfast, playing with her Paw Patrol toys, brushing our teeth, unloading the dishwasher, drinking more coffee (me, not her… she does not need caffeine!), going over what she learned in school during the week, and cooking.
11:00 am I try to work on some church-related tasks on my computer but Sadie isn’t having it so I put her in the bath to play and bring my laptop into the bathroom. It buys me about 20 minutes of work time and then we play with her Scribble Scrubbies, eat lunch, and take Niva on a walk in the snow.
I had no idea it was going to snow, but it’s beautiful and us girls thoroughly enjoy our walk.
2:00 pm Jimmy is home! He plays with Sadie for a bit and then we put her down for a nap. While she’s napping, I roll out my yoga mat and find a yoga video on YouTube so I can decompress for a second. Jimmy takes a nap with Niva (they’re nap buddies!)
After practicing yoga, I brew a cup of peppermint tea and get to work on my laptop. I do more church work, reply to emails, and other assorted catch-up tasks.
5:00 pm Sadie is awake! She took a solid nap and is in a decent mood. I watch Niva run around the yard like a wild woman, feed her, Malcolm, Sadie, and myself dinner while Jimmy shaves his beard. After eating, I cut Jimmy’s hair and then it’s play time with Sadie.
We play Ants in the Pants, Hungry Hungry Hippos, and do puzzles. I vacuum the couches and floors and take a shower with Sadie.
8:20 pm Bed time for Sader Tot. We read books, give kisses, and put her to bed. Jimmy and I have a snack and watch Battle Bots (one of our favorite TV shows!).
9:00 pm I’m tired! Bed time for me. Jimmy somehow stays up until 10:45!
I love the snow pics! We have had nooooo snow out here this month, and it kind of makes me sad. (Of course, we’ll probably get slammed in February). Ha, ha. But I do love snow, so I’m hoping we get some soon! 🙂
Saturday was a rest day for us, because we had such a busy week. (I’ll be blogging about that very soon. All good things!). So we had a lazy day and played games and watched videos, and it was SO nice. 🙂
I hope you guys get some snow, too! I know what you mean about getting slammed when you’re sick of winter in February, haha.
Yay for a rest day! I’m so glad you guys enjoyed that!
Ooh, you got more snow! How fun 🙂 I enjoyed seeing Niva’s joy at the snow. I remember when I was a teenager and had my horse: she used to love the cool feeling of snow on her back so she’d roll in the field. She once tried to roll when I was riding her in the snow! So I had to jump off really quickly haha
A typical Saturday generally starts slowly for me. I usually allow myself to sleep in for an extra hour and get up at around 8, and then it’s time to catch up on the chores and cleaning. I’ll usually go for a walk and on Saturday evenings I often have a Zoom call with friends. Pretty relaxed 🙂 (but soon I’ll have to study on Saturdays!)
I think it’s so cute that your horse liked the cool feeling of snow on her back! What was her name?! Thank goodness you jumped off in time so she didn’t roll on you!
Your Saturdays sound very, very lovely! Hopefully you’ll still have some relaxing Saturdays with your upcoming studying!
When it first snowed this winter season in Milan, I was the only one at work staring out the window in awe 😂. We also had a snowy Christmas all the way through New Year’s. My body wasn’t used to such cold weather being from Cali and all, but snow is so magical!!
Love the pics!
That is hilarious! I’m sure the cold is a big adjustment but probably so neat for you to experience the beauty of snow!
You know how much I LOVE snowy days and the colder weather. My motto is ‘if it’s going to be cold, it might as well snow too!’
Life with a toddler is very challenging, and rewarding at the same time. Sadie is such a sweet caring for, just like her mama.
Oh yes I do! But I agree that it might as well snow!
You hit the nail on the head with toddler life… hard and good and all the emotions haha! Love you ❤
She is so cute with her pretzels, haha! And look at all that snow! Her face when she sees it is adorable. 🙂 How much fun!
