Current book The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. I try to read this book once or twice a year. It’s just a wonderful reminder that each of us were created by God for a purpose.
Current blessing Receiving a letter from the boy Jimmy and I sponsor at Niños de Mexico. It makes me heart so incredibly happy to know that he is safe, healthy, has a home, and is learning about God.
Current beauty product Yes To Carrots Super Rich Body Butter. It fits my beauty product criteria: natural, smells good, and works great!
Current goal This is a lofty one, but I want to finish the first draft of my book by the end of the year. Can’t believe I’m putting it out there, but I’m hoping it will help me stay accountable.
Current indulgence Watercoloring. I love pulling out my paint and brushes every now and then. This time I was making some simple art to put in a 5×7 frame for our bedroom. I chose the bottom right one.
Current drink As always, coffee. Really enjoying the single origin organic Peru beans from Aldi. Also had an iced vanilla latte the other day and it hit. the. spot.
Current craving I want to paint my nails. I just need to find a chunk of time when Mavis is sleeping so I don’t worry about picking her up with wet nails, ha.
Current food Vegetables from our garden! I know we’re nearing the end of the gardening season, so I’m trying to soak up all the garden time I can.
Current confession I don’t want summer to end, but at the same time I’m looking forward to fall and the holiday season. I’m planning a fall dinner for Jimmy and I and looking forward a new season of Gold Rush.
Current obsession Anything that has to do with our fur babies. Jimmy and I brought Mavis to her first training class this week and it was so much fun!
Current need Absolutely nothing! Feeling extremely blessed.
Current procrastination Mopping the floors. I’ve Swiffered the living daylights out of them, but I know they need a good old fashioned mopping.
Current excitement My mom bought a truck! She was torn between a few different Chevy models and the Ford F-150. She went with the Ford and told me she is loving it. I can’t wait to take a ride with her!
Current prayer For all the victims of Hurricane Harvey to find comfort, safety, hope, and solace. Watching the news has been heartbreaking. I highly recommend checking out the nonprofit I.D.E.S. if you’re looking to donate.
Current mood Happy. Looking forward to the weekend!
Current question Have you ever had someone tell you that you look like your name should be something other than your real name? I cannot tell you how many people have told me I look like my name should be Daisy. I’ve also gotten Alice, Genevieve, and Luna (apparently I look like Luna Lovegood?), but I get Daisy a lot. So much so that my parents call me Daisy instead of Allie.
You’re so lucky you have a garden! I tried keeping a jade plant that Alex’s mom gave me alive and it died…even though jade plants are supposed to be unkillable. We’re convinced it was sick since the thing basically broke in half and looked rotten on the inside. Those watercolors are beautiful!
Your story about your jade plant is hilarious! I had no idea jade plants were supposed to be so sturdy! I bet it was sick before you even got it!
Thanks for the compliments on my watercolors 🙂
It had to have been sick there’s no way I killed it lol. I followed all the directions for keeping it alive.
You’re welcome 🙂
So I think it’s awesome your mom bought a truck. We don’t have a truck (when I met Clay, he drove a truck, an S-10). Last Sunday I was running with my tri friends during the mock tri, and almost all the triathlete guys have trucks. Not enough people in Charleston own and drive trucks, and I’m from a small town where EVERY GUY drove a truck! I secretly wish Clay would come home with a new truck and I could have his SUV instead of my Mazda ;).
I think so too!! And how funny that Clay drove an S-10… that’s what I drive! I’m surprised that not a lot of people in Charleston drive tricks! You never know… maybe one day Clay will come home with a truck and then you can have his SUV!!
It really depends on where you are in Charleston. The actual city part, you do not see a lot of trucks because the streets are kinda narrow and there’s not a ton of parking. It’s hard to park a truck on the street when the street is crowded. In the suburbs where I live, you see a few. Out in Summerville, which is more of a bedroom community (20ish miles out)… you see a lot more trucks.
I totally want a truck, so GO MOM! It would be so functional and I could sleep in the back 🙂 The only problem is that it’s harder to park with big vehicles in my city…oh well, at least not having the money means I don’t have to make a decision.
Haha yay! Sometimes not having to make a decision is nice, huh?!
I’m so excited for your goal of finishing the first draft of your book by the end of the year!! Yes! Go you, girl! I have full confidence in you doing that. So exciting, friend! 🙂
Pretty watercolor art! I bet that looks great in your room! 🙂
I can totally see you looking like a Daisy! That’s a cute nickname too. 🙂
Thank you for the encouragement, Rach!!
