We’ve had a crazy week over here! Crazy enough that I’m just wishing for some really boring, normal days 😂
Poor Sadie girl started acting funny on Wednesday–not eating, lethargic, and just pitiful. By the time Jimmy came home from work, she couldn’t do much besides lay on the couch. By 8:00 pm, her temperature was 104.7.
We were pretty alarmed so we called her pediatrician’s office and they recommended we go to the emergency room to have her tested for a UTI, the flu, and covid. They said a temperature of 105 is danger-zone serious, so we heeded their advice.
The emergency room of our local hospital was a madhouse, so us three sat for an hour or more waiting to be seen. I prayed a lot in that hour. I prayed for Sadie to be okay, to be seen soon, and for us not to catch anything–especially since I’m pregnant.
We were able to get a room and have Sadie be seen by 10:00 pm and we had to get some urine out of her, stick a swab up her nose, and try to keep her comfortable while we waited to hear back.
Man is it hard seeing your child not feel well. They weighed her and she was 32 pounds. In that moment, she just seemed so tiny to me. I usually feel like she’s growing up so fast, but seeing her sick and sad made her seem extra vulnerable and small 😢
Her flu and covid tests came back negative, but the doctor explained that they could be false negatives since she just started showing symptoms that morning. We’re kind of thinking it’s the flu because a flu-like sickness has been going around our church and Jimmy and I were recently sick with it.
We’re waiting on the results of the urine culture and should hear back soon. We were eventually released and so happy to fall into bed at 1:00 am.
Poor Sadie girl has still had a fever around 102 for the past two days, but it goes down with ibuprofen. I had a temperature last night and this morning, but I’m okay.
She’s definitely acting a bit more like herself, albeit a little cranky and sad. I don’t blame her one bit, though. I think I’d be the same if I had a fever for so long 🤪
We went outside this afternoon to play a bit and get fresh air. I went inside for a few minutes aaaaand Sadie stepped on broken glass. I heard her crying and saw blood all over her foot and it looked like she cut it in two places but she wouldn’t let me touch it or wash it without hyperventilating.
We both ended up crying. I felt so helpless! Poor girl has had a rough week. We are sitting on the ground to let her foot stop bleeding while we watch some Paw Patrol.
That brings us to now–wanting some boringness 😉
Though, Jimmy made me smile when he said that we had a built-in family night in the ER. I’m thankful for doctors and nurses who work all night. I’m glad we were able to go home and take care of our girl. I’m happy today is Friday!
Man, rough period for my Sadie girl, love her so much.
Nothing better than when she is excited to see me and smiles real big and says excitedly “Hi Pap Pap!” and the gives me the best long hug!
Love You
Dad

Oh I’m so sorry, Allie!!! That IS scary. 😦 Kaitlyn and Brady had Type A flu a few weeks ago, and K had a fever of 104.3. It didn’t stay up there for long, but she was miserable. And I was SO worried! It’s really hard to see your child that sick, and it makes a mom feel helpless.
Praying you get those boring days that you need very soon! I can relate to wanting that!
Aww poor Sadie has been through the wars this week! Hope she’s feeling better now and her foot heals quickly.
Happy Easter!
She really has!! She is on the mend, slowly but surely!
Happy Easter to you too, Grace!
What a scary experience! I’m so glad her fever came down eventually, but still! What a tough week!
High fevers are so scary – what a stressful week for all of you. I’m glad that I’m behind on reading posts and know that she does start to feel better.
