Jimmy, Sadie, and I arrived in the Outer Banks over the weekend and headed right back home on Tuesday due to an emergency evacuation in anticipation of Hurricane Dorian.
We met my family at my parents’ beach house and had a lovely few days together! We spent our time swimming, playing in the sun, eating seafood, and enjoying all the babies (and dogs–six between all of our families to be exact!).
How about some pictures?
Sadie had an absolute blast on the beach! When we visited in April, she didn’t get much of a chance to play in the sand, so it felt like a new experience for her this time around.
She wasn’t a big fan of the waves, but enjoyed toddling around in the sand, meeting other kids, and making sandcastles!
It was really nice to spend time with my parents, siblings, nieces, and all of our dogs. It’s tough to coordinate all of our schedules to get together all at once, so having a few days of uninterrupted family time was incredible!
I’m really excited to see “the girls” continue to grow up together and spend time at the beach each summer 🙂
One of the best aspects of visiting the Outer Banks in September is that restrictions on bringing dogs to the beach are lifted, so we were able to share our beach time with the dogs.
Jimmy and I brought Mavis to the beach with us one night while we looked for ghost crabs with my sister and her husband and we discovered that little May May likes to hunt ghost crabs! We’re 99% sure she ate one that she caught, lol.
Despite the incoming hurricane, we had wonderful weather! The high temperatures were in the 80s, it was sunny, and the beach was relatively empty after the Labor Day holiday.
Jimmy, Sadie, and I managed to take a few walks together and we talked about how we dreamed of taking Sadie to the beach while we were on our babymoon. It was a beautiful full circle moment that we thanked God for ❤
While our time was cut short, we truly enjoyed every moment we were able to spend together.
There’s nothing like the blessing of time to just let go of daily obligations, relax, and refresh. We came home feeling ready for the next season!
I’m praying anyone in the path of Hurricane Dorian stays safe and that those impacted by it will have minimal damage and be able to get back to normalcy as soon and safely as possible ❤
