Back At It, The Season, and The Orange Sleeper

I had no plans to do any official business baking since having Dakota but I had some customers reach out to me and couldn’t say no! One asked for me to bake beach-themed cupcakes with seashell, sea star, and turtle chocolate toppers for a baby shower.

Chocolate sea shells and turtle

The baby shower is in May and I decided to practice the chocolate toppers this week to see how they would come out. They’re cute! Next, I need to experiment with the cupcakes 😬

Another customer reached out on Etsy. She had ordered birthday-themed chocolate covered Oreos from me a year ago for her father’s 85th birthday. She messaged me this week and asked to order the same thing for her father’s 86th birthday. I was honored!

It definitely took me twice as long to pull those together but I didn’t feel too rusty getting them done! I just kept getting sidetracked by three cute kids 😉

Guess what season it is? It’s fold laundry outside season! My favorite.

Laundry

Whenever I get overwhelmed with laundry (which is often 😂) I try to remember to stop and pray a prayer of thanks. I love the people who wear these clothes so much. The little pajamas and socks and Jimmy’s work clothes that I wash and fold over and over. I get to do laundry for the four people I love most in the world 🫶

Want to see one of my favorite things? The kids all wearing the same sleeper as babies! This orange sleeper was given to me as a hand-me-down from a friend who had two kids before I had Sadie, so these pajamas have been worn by five babies.

I don’t know how Jimmy and I made three babies with *completely* different head shapes but we did 🤷🏼‍♀️

How about a few more pictures from the week?

Gideon is settling in nicely at home with his big siblings Caroline, Lawson, and Titus!!

And he met his big cousin (Dakota)!

We tried to recreate a picture we took of Mordecai and Titus in 2022.

I can’t wait to see Gideon and Dakota become best friends!

It’s so sweet seeing Sadie totally immersed in something. She was playing with her dollhouse here. She loves to make stories, set up scenes, and create characters.

Mordecai’s sun hat from last year is a little small. Sorry, buddy!! It’s now the season that I need to get the kids sandals and hats and a fresh bottle of sunscreen!

Sadie has been into her scooter lately. She flies on that thing! I used to have the same brand and model when I was a kid and loved my Razor scooter!!

Sadie is such a wonderful big sister. She “baby sat” Dakota for me while I took a shower the other day and I walked into the room and Sadie was so patiently entertaining her and just showing Dakota a toy. It made me tear up!

Other notes and thoughts:

  • I love hot sauce. Right now, I’m halfway through a bottle of this black truffle hot sauce and it’s so good! I love having it at breakfast in a tortilla with scrambled eggs, cheese, and arugula.
  • I’m currently reading The Burnout by Sophie Kinsella and have laughed multiple times while reading. I love when a novel makes me laugh out loud!
  • Sadie recently watched The Lorax movie and was so happy to hear it’s a Dr. Seuss book so we ordered it for her and she was so excited! Every night we read together before bed and then Jimmy lays her down. She reads Dr. Seuss books if she has trouble falling asleep and every morning there’s a book opened up in her bed. So cute!
  • Mordecai’s favorite Dr. Seuss book is Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You? and Jimmy and I both agreed that we feel like rappers when we read it to him 😂
  • I just did a Bible study on patience this morning (and didn’t finish it… a cluster feeding baby kept me busy haha) and I have so many thoughts!! Just imagine a tipped over garbage can with paint spilling out and my patience being tested recently 😉 I’ll share more in another post!

Okay, I am off for the day! Today is Dakota’s two month checkup so expect a monthly Dakota post soon. She is starting to feel more like a baby and not a newborn, which is crazy!! We love our little Kota Bear so much 🫶

What do you like to take outside (laundry/meals/work/etc.) when the weather permits?
