Okay, I know licking a lamp and being an adult probably don’t belong in the same sentence. Is it possible to do something like lick a lamp and still act like an adult? You can read this post and tell me what you think 😉
Let’s start with the snow first, though. Pittsburgh was gifted a few inches of snow on Friday and it was awesome! We woke up to about an inch, then it snowed all day and well into the evening.
The kids were both up by 7:30 am, so we were out in the snow by 8:00 am. Niva enjoyed a walk in ~her~ weather.
Snow is so much fun with a husky and kids. They love it. I love seeing their joy. As long as I don’t have to drive in it, I don’t mind it 😉
After we were thoroughly frozen, we went inside and had a floor picnic with Sadie’s tea set, pancakes, and water. So fancy!
I worked on photographing Valentine’s Day-themed chocolate covered Oreos for my Etsy shop (You read that right… I am back on Etsy 🎉). This was no easy feat with two kids watching.
Mordecai was sitting in his highchair and was very upset I wasn’t giving him an Oreo. Sadie was dancing around me and trying to grab rouge sprinkles. I wouldn’t have it any other way!
After lunch, I turned on one of the videos I used to teach Sadie sign language as a baby and toddler. Mordecai still could care less about the TV, but he watched a tiny bit! Sadie remembered all the videos and it made me so happy!
When Mordecai went down for his nap, Sadie and I laid on the floor again. This time we did her schoolwork!
Writing this post is making me realize how much time I spend on the floor 😂
Before Jimmy got home from work that evening, I brought the kids outside again so I could shovel the driveway for him. We then did dinnertime and it was still snowing so we went outside in the hot tub while it snowed and snowed and snowed!
So, onto licking a lamp. We have two Himalayan salt lamps in our home and I love them (You can see one in this post and another on our shelf in the picture of the sign language video above!).
When my sister’s family was over our house last weekend, my brother-in-law was like “Are those salt lamps really made of salt?” so he, Jimmy, and I all licked it. Yes. They are really made of salt!
Now let’s talk about me being an adult. I had two storage baskets I wanted to hang up just sitting around for a few weeks in hopes that Jimmy would get a chance to hang them.
He was busy this morning (Saturday!) and my mother-in-law had the kids for a couple of hours so I got out our drills, FaceTimed my dad twice, and hung them myself! Niva and Malcolm stared at me the whole time. I liked to think they were cheering me on. The feeling of success after doing something like that is addicting haha.
This little project reminded me of when I installed door pulls on our wardrobe. As always, my dad is the real MVP for somehow knowing what to do as I FaceTime him and show him random screws and drill bits.
Other Saturday things included meeting a woman from the Mid-Atlantic Mother’s Milk bank to donate more of my breastmilk. Felt good to give some milk (they had recently called and said they were in need!) and free up some space in our freezer!
If you would have asked me a few years ago if I would be meeting someone in a parking lot to donate my breastmilk, I’d be like what??? But here we are. God takes us on journeys we never imagined and it’s so cool!
Speaking of journeys… Niva and I have our first therapy visit on Tuesday and I’m so excited!

How cosy to be in the hot tub while it snows! Glad you’ve all been enjoying the winter weather.
It’s definitely very satisfying to do DIY projects. I find it a bit daunting but I guess you just have to start doing it and learn from experience. Well done for installing the storage baskets!
Very exciting about Niva’s first therapy visit 🙂
It was such a neat experience! Winter with kids is pretty fun! I will be glad in the spring when I don’t have to put mittens and hats and coats on the kids, but the snow is pure joy for them!
You said it so well: DIY projects are very satisfying! I hope decorating your place has been going well. I totally consider that a DIY!
I am so excited for Niva’s first therapy visit. And nervous!! Hopefully she doesn’t do anything crazy 😂
Love that you all know how to handle cold weather on the east coast and make it fun. Texas had a freeze recently with literally no snow and people were panicking for no reason haha
Aww, thanks! That’s the best compliment! A little snow doesn’t scare us! I am cracking up about everyone in TX freaking out over the cold!! It was 10 degrees here this morning and we were out and about. Don’t tell anyone I didn’t have socks on Mordecai 😆 😂
The shelves you installed look like they involve nails, a hammer, and everything! Really impressed that you could do it yourself, lol
They did! I was so afraid but just pushed through LOL. Mostly, I was afraid I was going to ruin the door by drilling into it but luckily it all worked out hahaha.
Also, the Oreos look delicious!
Aww, thank you so much! Decorated Oreos is one of my favorite ways to relax and get creative 😂
Handing off breat milk in the parking lot, licking a salt lamp, being Mr fix it, meals and school on the floor, and hot tub in the snow!
You make life fun!
Love 💕 You!
Dad
🙂
You made my day!! I try to make it all fun! Thanks again for helping me with the baskets 🙂
Love you so much!
WOW! This is a full post of amazingness! The fact that you guys licked the salt lamp is cracking me up – and no, I have not licked ours… and do not plan too!
Handing milk off in a parking lot is also cracking me up, but making me VERY proud that you’re doing it to help babies – even though peeps probably thought it was a drug deal.
The pic of you and the kids in the hot tub with the snow falling is so adorable!
I guess there isn’t much I can think of that I have done lately that I didn’t do a few years ago besides running in timed races (5k,10k, 1/2’s). I NEVER ran competitively until I was in by 50’s, which I guess is kinda abnormal… but hey, that’s me
Love you,
Madre
Thank you! I had no idea what to expect when licking the salt lamp but it actually tasted really good hahaha. If you’re ever in need of salt… go lick your lamp 😜
The milk hand off probably looked a little sketchy but was totally worth it!!
I think it’s so cool that you didn’t begin running competitively until you were in your 50s. There’s something to be said about starting new things when you’re an adult. It take a lot of courage to get out there and do it! I’m proud of you 🙂
Love you! 😘
