Improvising and Beating the Heat

Another day, another picture from our zoo!

I was practicing archery in the yard the other evening and Jimmy ran to our garage to do something. A few minutes later, he came out with a homemade target crafted from insulation and wood. Now I don’t have to shoot Amazon boxes as a target!!

I wish you could watch the above picture “live” because Niva was having a major case of the zoomies. I absolutely love my new improvised target, and it sure beats shooting cardboard boxes or spending $60 on a “real” foam target.

Sadie and Jimmy are my personal cheerleaders when it comes to archery. Jimmy took a video of me practicing with my new target and Sadie said “Yeahhhhh!” at the end in her sweet, low and scratchy voice. Love it.

I don’t know about where you live, but it has been hot here in Pittsburgh. I am here for it 100%! High temperatures in the upper 80s and low 90s? Count me in 🙋🏼‍♀️

We’ve been beating the heat by grilling (barbecue tofu to save money on meat, zucchini because it’s in season, and venison from my sister!) and swimming in our neighbor’s pool. We are feeling very blessed to live exactly where we do and next to the people who willingly put up with our escape artist dog and generally crazy life over here 😉

I’m happy to report that Sadie enjoyed swimming in our neighbor’s pool yesterday and made some progress after her rough experience with lessons recently. Most of all, she (we!) had fun 💜

I can’t believe the summer season has officially arrived! It’s definitely my favorite season. I do feel a little weird going to bed when it’s still light out sometimes, but I get tired at like 9:00 (okay, maybe 8:30…) each night 🤷‍♀️

Have you ever improvised something to save money?

What’s your favorite season?

What time do you go to bed?
