I’m on a roll with waking up overly early lately. Today I was up at 3:00 and couldn’t fall back asleep so I laid on the couch for a bit and then just got up and read my Bible and drank coffee.
Sadie woke up at 4:30 because her ringworm rash was hurting her, so we took care of that and I put her back to bed. Now here I am! I predict I will completely crash around lunchtime 😂

Pet sitting yesterday went well! Jimmy came home from work to three dogs just staring at him like hey, what’s up? Sadie kept saying “We have more huskies!” except she pronounces it “huck-sies” which is the cutest.
We had church in the evening and I got Sadie all gussied up in a new romper my mom gave her (thanks mom!). I am slightly obsessed with dressing her in rompers. I’m sure that will change when we potty train, though 😆

We quickly ate dinner and then got on the parkway to drive to Bible study and hit killer traffic. I fell asleep, but I think we sat for like 30-45 minutes?! Eventually we realized that church would end 15 minutes after we arrived, so we turned around and headed for a local park to let Sadie run around after sitting in the car for so long.
She had fun running around at the park with other kids and kept saying “This is awesome!” 🙂
As we were leaving the park, we walked down a big hill and the sun was beginning to set. Sadie was between Jimmy and I, holding our hands and giggling as we swung her. It was one of those moments that I mentally wanted to capture and save forever. One of those moments that had me thanking God for His blessings.
The day wasn’t perfect–there was a cat scratch, a crabby toddler who woke up too early, and traffic–but that moment? That was perfect. So much of life is choosing to reflect on what is hard or choosing to reflect on what is good. Making the most of unexpected traffic, or being bummed out and frustrated by situations beyond our control. I’m definitely not a pro at it but I’m learning!
Well, I’m off to bake some granola and probably fall asleep at noon 😉
Great perspective on lIfe! Thank you for sharing your day.
Love 💕 You
Dad
🙂
I learned from the best 😉 I love you! ❤
Aw! We certainly missed you guys at Bible study last night, but we all know downtown Pittsburgh traffic ~ with 2 tunnels to go through, it’s tough!
I’m so glad you made the most is it, and spent some time at the park ~ I really wish I had a camera to take a pic of the moments of you guys swinging her ♥️
Love you!
P.s. NAP WHEN SADIE NAPS!
Pittsburgh traffic is no joke! I was so sad I couldn’t give you your Pawlicious!! I wish I had a picture of that moment, too!
I totally did lay down when Sadie napped, ha!! Love you ❤
I am seriously so impressed with your positive outlook! For me, sleep is everything, and I am a total grouch if someone wakes me up 😂 but here you are, getting up at 3 am every day! Also, Sadie looks beautiful in that romper! Your mom has great taste 😍
Aww, thank you!! I can get pretty grouchy if someone wakes me up in the night, haha! Thanks for the compliment on Sadie’s romper! I agree 🙂 If only I looked that cute in a romper 😂
Awww, that is so cute how Sadie says “huck-sies”! I have so missed keeping up with you all. Also, thank you for sharing that about choosing to reflect on what is good- a much needed reminder and so important
The little things she says make me so happy! I’m glad I have this space to keep all those little phrases and memories. Congrats on your CRNP, Mackenzie!! That is a HUGE accomplishment!
I so agree, whenever I read old posts it’s all the little things that I smile at that I may have forgotten but are soooo special. And thank you tons, friend 😊
I love this post! So glad you could make the traffic situation a positive one! You and Jimmy are both so great at doing that and I admire you for it! Perspective is key!
Aww, thank you Hannah! I love you so much! ❤️
“So much of life is choosing to reflect on what is hard or choosing to reflect on what is good” — this is such a great reminder. 🙂
Wow, 3:00 am is an early wake-up. I’m trying to get in the habit of waking earlier to write before I start work, but the snooze button is oh so tempting! I had a meeting with my academic supervisor last week and she mentioned her father, who is in his 80s, still gets up every day at 5 am to write and research. So inspiring and admirable!
Thank you!! I needed to remind myself of it 😂
I am impressed by your academic advisor’s father! I’m sure that 5 AM wakeup is such a great routine for him!!
The time at the park sounds so wonderful! And her romper is adorable. I love it!
I love me a good romper or jumpsuit! Well, love em on Sadie, not so much on me haha!
