Life Lately

Hey! So, life lately. It has been filled to the brim with all sorts of stuff. I feel a bit all over the place, actually, but that’s nothing new around here ๐Ÿ˜‰

Life

us

See that picture? We look happy right? We’ve both been sick.

It started with Jimmy getting a bad cold, then I caught it and I’m pretty sure I have a sinus infection. I’m trying to wait to see if it will get better on its own, but I think a trip to MedExpress is in order very soon.

Work

working

My new job working for my family’s real estate brokerage has been great! The fact that I get to have business meetings with my dad at my house is awesome. I feel so, so blessed.

I’ve been getting used to my new role, so I haven’t had too much time to blog or work on my book. Hopefully as I settle into a good groove I will get back on a more normal writing schedule!

Baking

Chocolate rosette cake with chocolate buttercream

After months of deliberation, testing, and practice… I’m not making a cake for my sister’s bridal shower. My mom told me the total guest count, and it’s over 70.

I don’t think I’m confident or skilled enough to make a cake for 70 people and transport it 45 minutes from my house, soo I decided on cupcakes. I think baking, frosting, and transporting cupcakes will be less nerve wracking than a giant cake. Now, I have about a week to practice cupcakes. Full speed ahead!

I’m still making cookies as the favors, though, and those have been quite fun to test out!

Animals

Walking lola

Why yes, animals totally get their own category in my blog posts ๐Ÿ˜‰

Lola and Malcolm are doing great and I catch them cuddling together almost every day now! It has been so nice to have warm weather here in Pittsburgh. I cherish my walks with Lola and try to squeeze them in as much as I can.

Also, I bought new shoes for the first time in over a year. Does anyone else put off buying shoes? I feel like they’re just so expensive these days.

Last but not least, I have to share the cutest picture ever.

Hannah holding a baby goat

Hannah holding a baby goat! Seriously… look at the goat’s arm all tucked into Hannah! Han’s fiancรฉ, Josh, has a goat who had babies and they’re so adorable ๐Ÿ™‚

Tell me about your life lately!

  1. Oh wow! After all that preparation… you’ll be making cupcakes! Definitely a change of speed, but hopefully your cake experience will still help with the cupcakes. Especially with decorating them. I have no doubt that they will look amazing! ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope you get to feeling better soon! Being sick is so miserable!

    1. Haha, yes! I think it will be a good change with making the cupcakes instead of the cake! I can’t wait to decorate them and see how they turn out ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m starting to feel better, slowly but surely! Thank you!

  2. What a cute goat, hehe!

I don’t blame you to go with cupcakes vs. a cake. Transporting is crazy especially with a very large cake, too. It would suck to do that much work and then have it messed up. Plus cupcakes are nice, it’s like guaranteed portion control and seems like less mess too (at the event).

I don’t put off new shoes! After my string of running injuries I buy sooner rather than later these days.

    1. Thanks, Amy! I agree about the cake. I would be so sad if I decorated it, and then it got messed up on the drive to the shower! I also love that with cupcakes, I know exactly how many to make based on how many guests will be at the shower!

It’s super smart of you not to put off buying shoes! Having shoes that aren’t worn out is super helpful in preventing injuries ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Your job sounds like an absolute dream!!!! That is so awesome and very rewarding that you get to contribute to your families success ๐Ÿ™‚ I don’t blame you on the whole cake thing, I literally watch all those cake war shows and these people make massive amazing cakes but then I’m just like UHHH how the heck are they planning on transporting them lol Cupcakes sound great! The cookies- oh my gosh yummm, i love decorating sugar cookies so fun!

    xo, JJ

  4. Cupcakes will definitely be a ton easier than a cake, and I just know that they’ll be delicious and beautiful! (Of course, as you know, I’m partial to cupcakes…). ๐Ÿ˜‰ I can’t wait to see pics once you’ve made them!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. I always put off buying shoes! And when I finally do, something has to be wrong with them (too tight around the toes, poor arch support, etc.). It’ll be a miracle the day I find a cute pair of shoes that also make my feet feel good!
