I’m happy to report that Jimmy thoroughly enjoyed his Oreo cake.
His brother and I bought him a telescope for his birthday. He’s already obsessed with it and I think it’s cute. Not the telescope, but his love of it haha.
After church on Sunday, Jimmy and I celebrated his birthday by visiting Ohiopyle State Park.
I spent Memorial Day with my family and Lola! My brother, who now lives 20 minutes away from my family(!!), came over and we had a cookout.
We also had barbecue chicken, scallops, cheeseburgers, avocado salsa, baked beans, and watermelon.
I watched my dad braid my mom’s hair. So adorable.
Lola was walked and made a trip to the gas station with me, as usual.

Now, about the title of this post, “Decisions.”
I have some exciting news. My brother and his fiance asked me to bake cookies for their wedding in July! Right now, we’re in the process of brainstorming which types of cookies they want me to bake. All I know for sure is that I’ll be baking 500 cookies. That’s about 42 dozen!
What cookies should I bake for Bill and Racquel’s wedding?
How exciting!! We had soooo many cookies at our wedding! Too many! I always like thumbprints because you can make different kinds and different colors. Peanut butter blossoms are always yummy too, and easy. You could even buy those little chocolate hearts to use instead of hershey kisses!
Awwwww your dad braiding your mom’s hair… so sweet! I love that! Kudos to you for being asked to bake all those cookies. That’s high praise of your baking skills! ๐
Oh my gosh! Yay cookies!
Maybe do something that you can roll into logs and slice? That might be easy for big batches. Or maybe cookie BARS? Those would be easy in big batches, too.
Looks like such a fun weekend!
Oooo! Cookies! What are the wedding colors? You should definitely do something with them! You could make monster cookies and get M & Ms of their wedding colors! I don’t know how much they cost, but they also make ones with engravings so you could get them personally made on the website!
holy shiz so many cookies. I kind of like the idea of snickerdoodles, for some reason they remind me of family
500 cookies?! That’s going to be epic! Nothing too complex – like avoid the cream-filled. You definitely need a basic like sugar or chocolate chip. Maybe wedding cookies?! And then something funky… like chocolate sea salt! Feel free to send me the testers. LOL!
I’m partial to chocolate chip too..such a classic and hard to go wrong. However, they might want something more fancy! SO awesome they asked you to bake for them though, I love weddings that use family foods! Sounds like an amazing weekend and love that picture of Jimmy with his cake!
They should definitely be frosted cookies with the wedding colors/theme, just sayin’ ;)! So exciting :)!
TOTAL Pittsburgh wedding! Love it! ๐ We have so many Italian cookies at our weddings, and peanut butter! And snickerdoodle….and chocolate chip….and so many others! haha. I LOVE Ohiopyle, too!
Holy moly that is a lot of cookies! I can’t wait to find out what type you end up making! Celebrating a birthday in a national park sounds like something I would really enjoy! ๐
CONGRATS to your brother and his future wife!! that is so cool that you’ll get to have a part (a delicious part) in the wedding prep!! Cookies are something I know you ROCK AT, so that will be fun!!! Also, I doubt it will be much “work” since it’s for such a fun cause! I would say…. a classic chocolate chip cookie, a snickerdoodle, and double chocolate chocolate cookie (one with a chocolate flour, ya know?), and maybe a fruity cookie like cranberries with something! ๐
And oh man the pic of your dad braiding your Mom’s hair! so sweet!!!!! they sound like wonderful people!
hurray for a delicious looking bbq and oreo cake and telescopes! ๐
That is a lot of baking seriously. I think sugar cookies scream wedding with maybe some frosting on some (that would be a lot of frosting for 500).
First, I’m not surprised Jimmy liked your cake (he would be silly not too).
Congratulations to your brother! And you for being asked to bake for the wedding. As far as cookies go, there’s a type of cookies called wedding cookies that we had for my wedding and they were homemade and delicious. You could also do sugar cookies with sprinkles on them in the color of the wedding, or M&M cookies and buy the M&Ms in the wedding colors maybe? Whatever you do, just try out a batch or two a few weeks before the big day, I would actually bake a couple different kinds and do a taste test! Like people do with cakes.
Glad Jimmy enjoyed his cake and you guys had a great cookout!
500!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whoa.
That pic of your dad and mom is the most presious thing… I hope Jimmy knows how to braid.
We had at least 20 different types of cookies for our wedding. I made thin mints, oreo truffles, a s’more cookie, lemon bars….the list goes on and on. Check Pinterest for ideas!!!
That is a LOT of cookies!!! And I have to say that I cannot wait to see pics. ๐ You are going to do an awesome job at this!
How special to be asked to contribute t o the wedding like that!
Holy crap that is a lot of cookies… and most certainly my kind of project! I’ll be excited to hear which kinds you choose
Your dad braiding your mom’s hair is too darn cute, frame that picture ๐
How could he have not enjoyed that oreo cake? It was one fine masterpiece if you ask me!
Oooo that’s a lot of cookie baking!!! Here are my faves: http://corrieanne.com/2012/09/08/the-ultimate-cookie-friday/ with links!! Lol.
That is so exciting that you get to be the baker. But, after seeing that oreo cake, well I have complete faith in you!! (PS – can you come visit me in April and make me that cake haha)
That’s so exciting (and such an honor) that you were asked to bake the cookies for your brother’s wedding! 500 coookies is a lot…you are going to be one busy baker!!!
I’m not sure exactly what types of cookies you are looking for or how many different kinds you want to make, but I have a recipe for Italian Wedding Cookies on my blog. You could make the icing their wedding colors! Also, I agree with the person who suggested some type of bar cookie, cut into squares. It might be easier since you have to bake so many cookies!
Congratulations to your brother and his fiance ๐
First off Jimmy and his love for the telescope you got him, uhm so cute! Second the fact that your dad even knows how to braid hair is completely awesome. Third how exciting you are going to be baking for the wedding!!! Ah I’m happy for you, and as for a cookie choice I would vote snickerdoodle, just because (in my opinion) they are super tasty ๐
That’s so cute that your dad knows how to braid!
Your family is too cute! And your family has pasta salad. Can I come over and visit? ๐ Love that you and the fam are so close, and can’t wait to see what the final cookie decision is. I have a feeling the trial efforts won’t be too hard to live through…sample tons of cookies? Okay, talked me into it.
