Baby Zottola is a…

Jimmy and I had our anatomy scan on May 1st, when we hit the 20 week mark and it was just amazing and such a blessing to see our baby again. What was even more of a blessing, was finding out that baby is growing and healthy!

20 week anatomy scan ultrasound to find out gender

The anatomy scan went well, and was longer than we expected because baby was moving and grooving the whole time and giving the technician trouble getting all the measurements and pictures that were needed, haha. We were able to see the heart beating, the spine, fingers, toes, little lips, and even a yawn! I can’t wait to see those sweet yawns in person.

At the very end of the scan the technician let us know we are having a baby girl! We are so excited to welcome a daughter in September and cannot wait to meet her!

How about a little pregnancy update?

I’m now 21 weeks and so happy to report that I’m feeling much better than I did during the first trimester! I’ve been having some minor heartburn and calf cramps, but those have been the only struggles, thankfully!

Baby girl kicks a lot, especially right before bed. Jimmy and I love sitting on the couch together just feeling her move around and karate chop inside me. Seeing Jimmy’s eyes light up when he has his hands on my belly and feels those kicks is a memory I want to cherish forever. Our families have also been able to see and feel baby girl kick, which is super fun for us all to experience!

We’ve been having monthly midwife appointments, which have been going well. My favorite part is hearing her heartbeat with the doppler.

We haven’t decided on a name, but have one that Jimmy chose that we both like and sometimes call her already. We have a few other contenders, but we have a while to figure that out. We may even decide on a name when we meet her and see what she’s like. Who knows!

We haven’t bought anything, registered anywhere, or done any planning in terms of a nursery, but I’m sure we will start working on that soon. If any moms (or dads!) have suggestions for baby items you think are absolute must-haves, let me know! We’re pretty clueless 😉

I think that’s about it for the update. Let me know in the comments if you have any questions. To sum it up as I did in my last post, we’re feeling so incredibly thankful, blessed, and loved. God has been very good to us. ❤

Wedding Celebration and Cake!

I feel like a lot has happened since I last blogged! First of all, my father-in-law’s wedding was great! Fred and Kim tied the knot in a small, intimate ceremony with family and it was beautiful. Jimmy and I are so incredibly happy for them!

I am happy to report that the cake and cupcakes turned out well and were enjoyed by all! I started all the preparations on Thursday morning and hardly thought about anything else until the wedding was over on Saturday night.

It was definitely an intense few days, but so worth it to see the happy couple enjoy their Harley Davidson-themed cake! If anyone is interested, I can do a separate post on the cake and cupcake details.

Fred and Kim are now off on their honeymoon in the Outer Banks, which is such a lovely place to honeymoon. I may be a bit biased, though 😉

Other things of note include how incredibly blessed and thankful I have been feeling lately. Do you guys know P from Will Study For Food? If not, I’d recommend checking out her blog. She makes me want to live in California and is totally rocking the whole PhD thing!

P sent me the sweetest package of baby clothes last week. Thank you so, so much, P! Jimmy and I absolutely love the little sleepers and were ohhing and ahhing over how cute they are.

Also, my mom and sister both gave me early Mother’s Day gifts, which was so unexpected and thoughtful. Hannah gave me a few adorable mom-themed Origami Owl charms for my locket and my mom gave me the Magnolia Table cookbook and a mom mug!

Lastly, I mentioned in the post before this that Jimmy and I had our anatomy scan last week. We are so excited to share that baby is healthy and doing great! We also found out baby’s gender, which I will share in my next post.

Maybe I’ll do a little pregnancy update since we’ve hit the halfway point?! Long story short: we are feeling blessed, loved, and excited! God is good.

Alright, I am off to get my Monday started. I was hardly on my computer last week due to the busyness of pet sitting, unexpectedly needing to buy a new washing machine, cake baking, and wedding celebrating! It was quite an exciting week and I’m hoping to catch up around the house and blog world this week 🙂
