A Wedding Weekend

Hey hey! I hope everyone is having a great Monday. We had a fun weekend that included a bridal shower, sleepover, and wedding. It was packed with all sorts of fun!

Our Friday started off with Sadie’s one month check up at the pediatrician. She’s now 8lbs 13oz and growing right on track.

It never fails to amaze me that God created this sweet little life and sustains her. It’s just so mind blowing when I think about it.

As I mentioned in a recent post, our friends from church were having their bridal shower and getting married over the weekend.

Since our church was the venue and it’s near my parents’ house, we decided a sleepover at grandma and grandpa’s was in order.

My mom, Sadie, and I made a quick trip to Carter’s to pick up a dress for Sadie since she has grown out of most of her newborn dresses.

We hung out with Aunt Hannah for a bit while she studied for her next nursing school exam at my parents’ house.

In the evening, we headed to the shower! Sadie and I missed pretty much the whole thing because she was eating, but Jimmy said it was fun! We gave the bride and groom mixing bowls and baking supplies 🙂

We then headed back to my parents’ for some rest! In the morning, I cooked up breakfast and Jimmy and I made a trip to Starbucks to grab coffee for everyone.

My parents are big Dunkin’ fans but put up with our Starbucks-loving ways and said they enjoyed their drinks, haha.

After we were fully caffeinated, we headed to the wedding!

It was such a sweet ceremony, with a unity candle lighting, scripture reading, and exchanging of vows. I totally cried. Weddings are just so emotional!

After the ceremony, we headed back home and had a cozy little family evening. It was raining here in Pittsburgh, so we hunkered down and cuddled 🙂

Sunday was spent at church and hanging out around the house. It was a great weekend!

How was your weekend?

A Month

Somehow a month has passed since Sadie was born. It was one of the fastest, hardest, and best months of my life.

We’ve had so many firsts that I never want to forget.

First bath, first family walk, first diaper blowout (I guess I could forget that one!), first date night for mom and dad, first time at church.

First reflex smile, my first day on my own with Sadie, first mom brain moment, and probably a few others I’m forgetting!

What a month of learning and loving.

Learning that our life is forever changed and absolutely loving that change, even in the hard moments. Or after reflecting on the hard moments 😉

A month of realizing that Jimmy and I are a team. A month of laughter and less sleep. A month of cuddles and rocking and discovering what Sadie likes and doesn’t like.

A month of diaper changes, tiny socks, swaddle blankets, cute outfits, learning to do things with one hand, and figuring out how baby gear works.

A month of lots of laundry, dirty floors, and eating dinner on the couch. A month of staring at Sadie’s every feature and soaking her in as she grows and changes every day.

A month of tears of sadness from not knowing what we’re doing and tears of joy over the blessing of our little one and new life as a family.

A month of support and help from loved ones and friends. A month of new priorities and joys.

A month of prayers of praise and thanks and asking for guidance. It has been such a blessed month. God has been so very good to us.

I can’t wait to see what Sadie’s second month of life brings!
