Somehow another month has arrived. Welcome, July! Do you have any exciting plans for this month? We will be doing lots of preparing for our little gal by working on her room (we have it painted!), taking childbirth education classes, having a baby shower, and attending appointments.
Along with that, we also have work, birthday celebrations for loved ones, and all sorts of fun stuff. It’s going to be a good month! Here’s what’s currently going on in my life 🙂
Current book I’m finishing up the book of Genesis and also reading What Falls from the Sky by Esther Emery. It’s a memoir type book about how the author went a year without the internet and found herself more connected with God. I’m finding it absolutely fascinating.
Current confession I totally want to go to the movie theater and see Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation. I just love kids movies, and we partially named Mavis after the main character in that movie!
Current experiment I ordered our groceries online from Walmart. We’re picking them up today and I’m super curious to see how the experience goes.
Current baked good Blueberry muffin cookies. They taste like the top of a blueberry muffin (aka the best part!).
Current beauty product This moisturizer. I like that it can be used day, night, or as a mask. Pretty versatile!
Current obsession Home organization. I think I’m nesting, haha. I just bought this organizer and can’t believe the difference it has made in freeing up space in our closet.
Current excitement Jimmy told me to pick out a new kitchen faucet for our anniversary! Our old one was a little leaky, and he knew I had been dreaming of out one with a pull down sprayer. We ended up finding this one at a great price on Amazon and he installed it this week. I have a thoughtful, skilled husband!
Current procrastination Calling our vet to schedule Mavis’ spaying procedure. I know I need to just get it done because it reduces her risk of cancer later in life, I’m not ready for an “oops” litter of puppies, and don’t feel like going through the “in heat” experience again in six months, lol.
Current goal To catch up on blog reading. I feel like summer is such a busy time, but I just love knowing what’s going on in my blog friends lives. Hoping to get a jump on that this week!
Current blessing A great week of Vacation Bible School at our church. Hannah and I headed up the kitchen this year, which is always nerve-wracking because we’re feeding somewhere around 60 to 70 people each night. It takes a lot of preparation, but it’s always worth it and a lot of fun to serve in this way.
Current need This sign. It’s too funny and some days I feel like taking it seriously 😉
Current app FreePrints. I am just loving this app! You can upload and print 4×6 photos for free and have them shipped to you. The only fee is for shipping. It makes scrapbooking a lot easier when I can upload and print photos right from my phone and get them in the mail a few days later.
Current food Swiss chard from our garden. It was the first thing we harvested this year!
That Swiss chard looks great! Good for you and Hannah, running the kitchen for VBS. 60-70 people is a lot – that’s intimidating but a great way to serve. Your new kitchen faucet is super nice! Happy July! Sounds like it will be a busy one for you guys.
Thank you! It tastes wonderful, too, which makes me so happy!
Serving in the kitchen at VBS is definitely intense, but like you said, a great way to serve! Happy July to you, too 🙂
I’m guessing your church is small because our VBS used to be big… but it was a small town and I think kids went to multiple churches’ VBS. Plus, I think VBS was just a really big thing back then. We usually had 100+ back when I attended as a kid and when I volunteered as a college student. Now that I work with churches I’ve seen some that have huge VBS programs and extensive volunteer operations… like, hundreds of kids. I usually volunteered with the 3-5 year olds and it was always fun.
Those cookies look amazing! I love cookies and blueberry anything.
Wow, 100+ would be intense! Jimmy said when he was a kid, our church had around that number of kids going each night. I can’t imagine how tough the kitchen duties would be then! I bet the 3-5 year olds loved having you as a volunteer while you were in college!
The cookies are great! If you’re ever in the mood to bake, I’d recommend them 🙂
Currently 100 degrees here and I moved into an apartment! That’s about all I can handle right now haha
That is a lot to handle! I hope you’re all settled in and that it’s cooler now!
Not long until your little girl arrives… you and Jimmy must be so excited! ☺ Sounds like you’re super organized already!
Aww I hear you re: procrastinating over booking vets’ appointments. I had to hold back the tears when I dropped Aimée off for her spaying appointment (we allowed her to have one heat before spaying as it’s supposed to be healthier for them) as I was so worried. But she was fine! And Mavis will be too! The hard part was keeping Aimée quiet and resting during the first week after surgery because she just wanted to play and jump around like normal!
The Swiss chard looks so tasty. I hope you’re enjoying lots of fresh veggies from your garden.
Oh and I’m definitely with you on not having enough time to keep up with blogs. I haven’t been reading blogs as often as I used to and I haven’t written on my own blog in months!
Hope you have a great July!
Hi Grace!! We are so excited (and nervous, haha!) for our baby girl’s arrival!!
I heard the same thing about letting the pup experience at least one heat cycle before having them spayed, so that’s what we did with Mavis! I’m glad Aimee did well with the surgery! Mavis’ is July 16th! I will be a ball of nerves, I’m sure!
I just picked some cucumbers, zucchini, and tomatoes from the garden today and we are loving all the fresh (and free!) produce! I think we’re going to make pickles from the cucumbers 🙂
I miss reading your blog! I hope all is well with you 🙂
I love that you partially named Mavis after the Mavis from Hotel Transylvania! That movie is so cute! I’m wanting to see the third one too. I’m totally with you on kids’ movies. 🙂
Kudos to you guys for heading up the kitchen for SO many mouths! That’s would be super intimidating to me. You two look like you knew what you were doing, though! 🙂
Hooray for working in the nursery!! That was such a sweet time of preparation for us. I’ll be praying blessings over you two as you make preparations for this little one.
Oh, and that “ring doorbell” sign… I’m not kidding when I say that we disconnected our doorbell chime this year and it has been the best thing ever! I wish we had done it years ago. We have the Ring doorbell anyway so if someone rings our doorbell, it comes straight to our phones with video footage of whoever it is (and we can even talk to them!). But even if we didn’t have that, I still would have disconnected it if I had known we had the option. Friends and family know to just walk in so the only times the doorbell is rung is by someone delivering a package or by solicitors. Sooo yeah, no need for a doorbell for us! Anyway, the sign is definitely funny and I understand your feelings there!
It’s totally one of my favorite movies! I have no clue why, haha. It’s just adorable and makes me so happy!
I know exactly what you mean about working on the nursery being a sweet time of preparation! It has been so much fun anticipating what life will be like in just a few months and imagining baby girl in her room! I’m smiling just thinking about it now 🙂
You guys are so smart to have disconnected your doorbell!! Jimmy really wants that doorbell! He thinks all the features are just amazing! I’ll have to tell him you guys like it!
Aww that little tidbit on Mavis’ name is so cute ❤ also I had no idea spaying reduces cancer risk later in life.
Thanks, P!! It was so fun choosing her name and I just love that movie! Isn’t it crazy about the spaying? I had no idea until about a year ago!
What a busy but fun time in your life right now!! I love that dog sign, lol. So cute. And those blueberry muffins— Teach me your ways!! So good to know everything is going well with the pregnancy- you amaze me at how much you’re doing especially this late in the game! That book sounds wonderful- perspective changing. I’ll have to hunt it down. And yay for the start of the harvest!! Thanks for the update, girlfriend ❤ xo
You said it so well, Mackenzie! A busy and fun time in our life! The dog sign is legit my life, haha. Thanks for the compliments on my pregnancy! I have an update to post and it’s going to be intense, haha! Not really, but I should actually ask you questions since you’re a nurse and probably know a lot more than I do!
The book is awesome! I’m almost done and would highly recommend it!
Ah I can’t wait to read it!!!
Free Prints is one of the best apps!! Any time we need printed photos, we always go with that app. It’s so convenient! Also, we are super interested in trying that free pickup option at Walmart! It seems like such a hassle to shop there sometimes with all the people haha. How did it work for you?
I agree about Free Prints! It’s seriously so simple and convenient!!
We LOVED the free pickup at Walmart and would highly recommend it! 🙂
