Currently: December 2023

Welcome to December! It’s the final month of 2023 and I’m praying it’s a good one for everyone reading this.

Outdoor Christmas tree at night

Here’s what’s current in my life this month. Please share some of your answers in the comments!

Current Books I do a Life in His Presence devotional each morning and Sadie and I read Adventures in Fosterland books each night. She’s also enjoying The Sweet Smell of Christmas and all of the Christmas books in this post.

Current food Coho salmon. I picked some up on sale at the grocery store the other day. I added some salt and pepper and grilled it. I’ve been enjoying it for lunch each day! Also snacking on these bars when I’m out and about. They’re made by a company in Oakmont, PA, which is super local to where I grew up.

Current baked good Jimmy requested angel food cake with strawberries and whipped cream this week. I made two batches, so he took one to work and it was gone that same day. I had no idea angel food cake was so well-liked!

Current drink Starbucks Holiday Blend pods for our Nespresso machine. These are such a treat! They have sweet maple and herbal notes. I feel so festive each time I brew one.

Current excitement My friend coordinates a Christmas stocking drive for kids in foster care and she’s having a stocking drop-off party later this month. I’m excited to bring the stocking Sadie and I picked out and stuffed with gifts and yours truly is catering the cookies for the party!

Current beauty product It’s the time of year when my lips are dry from the cool air. Enter my favorite lip balm: Mongo Kiss. The tubes are large and the honey vanilla scent (flavor?!) is my personal favorite.

Current laugh I was in our kitchen and just happened to look over and see Sadie’s doll horse with a Starbucks cup on its head. It gave me a good laugh.

Current craving A date with Jimmy. We haven’t been sans kids in many moons.

Current home product Red buffalo check pillow covers. I love pulling these out each December when we decorate for Christmas.

Current fun Our neighborhood had its annual night of lights and we enjoyed an outdoor evening of hot cocoa and cookies by the fire, tractor rides, and crafts. I love our community.

Current kid product Sadie (and sometimes Mordecai… and sometimes mom) use these cute glass cups with silicone sleeves. They do. not. spill., which is a miracle.

Current goal Donating any unused toys and outgrown clothes before Christmas. We have a tiny home, so I always have to stay on top of things like this.

Current cuteness Sadie and Mordecai experiencing a play place for the first time. I brought them to Chic-Fil-A for the first time and they loved the play place. It brought back so many childhood memories at McDonalds for me.

Ooh that smoothie cups look great! Thanks for the tip. I’ve been looking for something like that!

    1. It’s right in our neighborhood and I smile every time I see it! I think it’s the retro looking lights that get me. So cute.

The Starbucks cup on the horse was awesome. Definitely made my day. It’s the little things, right?!

The smoothie cup is seriously bomb.com!! I think your girls will love them. They have different colored sets too.

  2. I just love all the pics of the kids!! The fact they’re now sharing so many cool experiences together as brother and sister is so so sweet!!
I am currently trying to organize and get all of my Christmas shopping complete 🙂
