We had a rainy day in Pittsburgh yesterday so Sadie and I filled it with some fun indoor activities. We started off with painting a monster truck! She loves these Melissa and Doug craft kits and I love that they really hold her attention as she creates and paints.
Next we did her schoolwork. We’re definitely taking a relaxed approach to schooling over the summer. We’re still working through the Abeka Preschool for 3s and enjoying it. I love how Abeka manages to teach three-year-olds more than just letters and colors, but also countries and concepts.
One of Sadie’s flashcards is about The Netherlands and she looked at it and said “Mom, when you grow up you’ll look like that!” I didn’t know what to think 😂
We did manage to get some time outside in the rain when we swung by the grocery store.
Sadie was extremely excited to gear up for the weather with rain boots, an umbrella, and a rain jacket! Rain gear is pretty essential when you live in Pittsburgh 😉
In the afternoon, I went into full-on deep clean mode. Everything in and around our house got scrubbed, sprayed, and shined. Sadie even got in on the action by wiping down the kitchen chairs and table.
Even though the couches would be filled with dog fur within a couple of hours and toys would be strewn about in every room, it felt nice to have everything spic and span after being sick. I am finally feeling normal and it’s wonderful! I think Jimmy is coming down with the bug, though 🥺
After cleaning, Sadie randomly laid in her bed and took a nap so I used my free time to rest on the couch and work on my Jonah Bible study. I even lit a candle! Little “luxuries” like a napping child and a candle burning while I study God’s Word are the best 💛
All in all, it was a great start to the week! The house was cleaned, Sadie and I enjoyed the rainy day, I could stomach most foods again, and I had a little bit of free time to kick up my feet and enjoy time with God. Doesn’t get much better than that 😊
