A Great Start to the Week

As soon as I signed off on my last post, I started to get ready for a fun adventure with Sadie girl. Jimmy dropped us off at the airport in the afternoon and we hopped on a flight to Norfolk, VA.

After a quick flight (less than an hour!), we landed and met my parents at they airport. We then drove to their house in the Outer Banks, NC.

They invited us to spend a few days with them at the beach and we were more than happy to oblige 😉 It was about a 1.5 hour drive from Norfolk to the Outer Banks, which was a lot quicker than an 8.5-9 hour drive from Pittsburgh.

We’ve had the trip planned for a few weeks but I kept it a secret from Sadie so she would be surprised. A few days before we left, I told her we were going on a trip and that it was a surprise and she was definitely shocked when she saw my parents at the airport and heard where we were headed!

Once we got into town we had dinner at Captain George’s Seafood Buffet and then relaxed in the hot tub. Sader Tot enjoyed the hot tub almost as much as me 😜

We went to bed happy and feeling so blessed to have some uninterrupted time with my parents and safe travels.

In the morning, we woke up to a beautiful sunrise and warm weather! I think the high today was 69 or 70 degrees, which felt lovely. We walked my parents dogs and even spent some time at the beach!

Sadie is currently taking a nap. She crashed out from all the excitement and activity, but we’re hoping to bring her to one of our favorite parks here later on. Can’t wait!

So long for now!

Have you ever surprised someone with a trip? –> This was my first time surprising someone with a trip and I would totally do it again!

Do you like flying? –> It’s actually my biggest fear, but I decided it was worth it to not have to drive eight or nine hours with a toddler 😂

    1. It was truly so much fun to surprise her! I love how she just went along with me saying yeah, we’re going on a trip… somewhere! I don’t know how I would have reacted as a child, but she was loving it! Seeing her delight was the BEST!

  1. I didn’t realize you were scared of flying! That’s so brave to tackle such a big fear with your kiddo in tow. Way to be! SO glad you all had such a great time!

    1. Yes! I don’t know exactly when the fear started but I am forcing myself to get over it because I don’t want it to rule my life! There’s so much I am missing out on if I avoid flying, so I am focusing on that aspect and seeing the world open up before me if I face the fear! Being distracted by Sadie helped a lot 😉
