Jimmy had a church meeting one night this week, so Sadie and I decided to make it a girls’ night. It was rainy, so I had an idea. I hadn’t taken her to a mall in ages, and I wanted to see if she would like Claire’s, which is an accessory, jewelry, and toy store for young girls.

She loved it! From the moment we walked into the store, she was enamored with every little knickknack, stuffed animal, toy, accessory, and piece of jewelry. Her face lit up and she was smiling so hard.
I think we stood in front of the headband section alone for a good ten minutes while she tried on tiaras and cat ear headbands and put them on stuffed animals, too. I showed her what a slap bracelet was and she tried on a few backpacks.

It was one of those sweet moments of doing something just for her and so thoroughly enjoying her take delight in everything. I think one of the best parts of being a parent is watching my child revel in something.
God must feel the same way about His children. When he sees us do something we’re passionate about, when we have a moment of pure joy, I imagine He probably smiles and delights in our delight, you know?
What’s funny about the night was that Claire’s wasn’t even the highlight of our little outing for Sadie. We didn’t buy anything there and just enjoyed looking around. What really got Sadie excited was… the escalators throughout the mall. She wanted to go up and down over and over again 😂
The mall we went to also has a Target as one of the anchor shops, so we walked through and picked up mini rainbow marshmallows (Sadie’s latest obsession, except she calls them snowballs 😆) because we had run out. She couldn’t believe there was such a thing as rainbow marshmallows because she had only ever had plain ones. Again, it was such a simple thing, but so sweet seeing her joy.
We came home from our big night out with just a bag of mini marshmallows but the sweetest memories. I hope she is always in awe of the simple things in life!
This is beautiful! The littlest joys with our little ones, we don’t always get to stop and enjoy them enough in our busy motherhood life. Sounds like Sadie had a lovely day! (PS I have a Sadie too!!)
Aww, thank you! You’re so right, it can be easy to overlook the little moments that are actually big! I love that you have a Sadie too! Great name 😉
This is one of my favorite posts – e v e r. She is so much like her mama it’s amazing!! 😍
Thank you so much!! She really is so much like me as a child, haha!
This is so cute! Not going to lie, your posts about Sadie make me so excited to have a child one day. Also, I can tell how much she loves that paw patrol shirt!
Aww, yay! Being a parent is amazing! I hope you get to experience it 🙂
She is in love with that shirt! She will wear anything Paw Patrol 😂
It sounds like you and Sadie had a lovely evening! 🙂 We have Claire’s in the UK too – it’s where I got my ears pierced when I was 13.
We really did! So funny, I got my ears pierced there, too! When we were in Claire’s that evening I saw a young girl getting her ears pierced and it brought back memories 🙂
I love this post! It was such a good idea to take her to Claire’s!! So sweet! Love you girls!
Thanks, Han! We should take the girls together sometime! Bobby would love all the jewelry! We love you Aunt Hannah ❤
I agree! I love you too!!
What a fun outing! Oh my goodness, escalators were a huge hit over here at Sadie’s age! We would go up and down them over and over every week, haha! It’s funny how something we see as mundane is such a marvel to them!
