Baby Zottola is a…

Jimmy and I had our anatomy scan on May 1st, when we hit the 20 week mark and it was just amazing and such a blessing to see our baby again. What was even more of a blessing, was finding out that baby is growing and healthy!

20 week anatomy scan ultrasound to find out gender

The anatomy scan went well, and was longer than we expected because baby was moving and grooving the whole time and giving the technician trouble getting all the measurements and pictures that were needed, haha. We were able to see the heart beating, the spine, fingers, toes, little lips, and even a yawn! I can’t wait to see those sweet yawns in person.

At the very end of the scan the technician let us know we are having a baby girl! We are so excited to welcome a daughter in September and cannot wait to meet her!

How about a little pregnancy update?

I’m now 21 weeks and so happy to report that I’m feeling much better than I did during the first trimester! I’ve been having some minor heartburn and calf cramps, but those have been the only struggles, thankfully!

Baby girl kicks a lot, especially right before bed. Jimmy and I love sitting on the couch together just feeling her move around and karate chop inside me. Seeing Jimmy’s eyes light up when he has his hands on my belly and feels those kicks is a memory I want to cherish forever. Our families have also been able to see and feel baby girl kick, which is super fun for us all to experience!

We’ve been having monthly midwife appointments, which have been going well. My favorite part is hearing her heartbeat with the doppler.

We haven’t decided on a name, but have one that Jimmy chose that we both like and sometimes call her already. We have a few other contenders, but we have a while to figure that out. We may even decide on a name when we meet her and see what she’s like. Who knows!

We haven’t bought anything, registered anywhere, or done any planning in terms of a nursery, but I’m sure we will start working on that soon. If any moms (or dads!) have suggestions for baby items you think are absolute must-haves, let me know! We’re pretty clueless 😉

I think that’s about it for the update. Let me know in the comments if you have any questions. To sum it up as I did in my last post, we’re feeling so incredibly thankful, blessed, and loved. God has been very good to us. ❤

  2. So I am just now sitting down to catch up on all the blog reading I missed over vacation and what is the very first one I’m greeted with?? THIS ONE!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!! Girls are just so much fun! And how precious is your baby bump?! I LOVE IT! And I love you. Yay! I’m just so happy for you!

Oh man, I forgot about the calf cramps. Those can be killer. Magnesium right before bed helped me a ton (per my doctor’s recommendation).

I can’t wait to see what theme/color scheme/etc you come up with for the nursery! I know it’s going to be so precious. And girl I am so here for you if you have any questions about baby gear. I did a ridiculous amount of research before our little one arrived and it paid off. I’m definitely happy to pass any of that knowledge on! I know you’ve already seen my list of must-haves for 0-6 months, but if you have any specific questions please don’t hesitate to ask!

    1. Aww, yay!! I love hearing how much people love having baby girls! It makes me so excited for ours to arrive in September… which is starting to feel SO SOON!

I will definitely ask my midwife about magnesium because these calf cramps are coming nightly and feel like death hahah. Thanks for the tip!

We are getting so pumped for the nursery! I need to go back and look at your 0-6 month must haves again! That will be so helpful 🙂

  3. Congratulations and I am so happy for you guys! Glad you already have some name ideas as well and I love the picture of you preggers :).

I would definitely say to register somewhere but I have no idea what to buy. I think Amazon is your best bet because that way people can have things shipped to you if they can’t come to showers or things. Plus Amazon sells everything and you can register for necessities like bottles, diapers, etc. If you don’t register, you just never know what you’ll get and you would probably get a ton of outfits or sleepers or things that you could easily buy secondhand or just don’t need a ton of (garage sales and Goodwill are gold mines when it comes to baby clothes). Besides that the big thing is a car seat, that’s something you never buy secondhand (in case it was in an accident, etc), also strollers!

    1. Thank you so much, Amy!! We started a registry with Amazon last week and it has been SO helpful! Basically anything that’s “Amazon’s Choice” in the baby category has gone on our registry, LOL. Love the idea of checking out garage sales and Goodwill, too!!

    1. Thank you, P! We are so excited! I’m so glad the card made it to you! I’m even more glad we’re blog friends! Thank you again so much for the pjs for baby girl!! ❤

      1. Awwww!!!! Well I’ll definitely keep you posted when the time comes. And whenn that time comes we’ll probably be asking y’all for some tips ❤ XO
