Finally, our garden has been planted! I was looking forward to it since we wrapped up last summer’s garden, and now it’s here 🙂
We weeded the plot, tilled it, applied weed block, and started a fence.
Then it was time to plant! We did our planting on Memorial Day. We used seedlings from Bedner’s Greenhouse again, since we’ve had great harvests from their plants.
Here’s what we planted:
- Cherry tomatoes
- San Marzano tomatoes
- Purple tomatoes
- Green beans
- Japanese eggplant
- Swiss chard
- Green peppers
- Cucumber
- Zucchini
As you can see, the weed block (black tarp-looking material) is a new addition from last year’s garden. We did a lot of weeding last year, so we’re hoping the weed block will cut back on that task. That would be a game changer! I will keep you posted on how it works for us.
Here’s a look at how our garden has developed since we moved in.
So, that’s our garden so far for 2017! We need to finish up the fence, and then tend to the plants as they grow!
W. O. W.!! So amazing!!! I love the pics comparing to the years past! You are so organized – I think you get it from your mother 😂 (That’s a total joke)
Can’t wait to enjoy some of the veggies!
Love ya~~
Madre
Thank you so much, mom! You’re totally organized when you want to be! How else would you have helped to plan three weddings?!
Can’t wait to share some veggies with you!
Your garden looks great! What a transformation over the years. 🙂
Thank you, Grace! It is so much fun to look back on and see how the space has changed 🙂
Wow, Allie it looks GREAT! I love the addition of the fence!
I just used the weed block tarp for the first time for a landscaping project I tackled in our front yard. I’m curious to see how it works for us as well!
Thank you, Brittany!! I hope both of our weed block/landscape fabric experiments go well!!
Well done!! What a great looking garden.
Thank you, Brittany!
I love the picture comparing the different years! What progress. Excited to hear about your harvest this year.
Thank you, Amy! I can’t wait to share how it goes 🙂
Looks awesome!
