Life Lately in Pictures

Dogs and cats sitting together

Lola, Malcolm, and Mavis are getting along well. I found them laying in a circle and I’m convinced they were having a pow wow on how to get into trouble together.

Girl dipping nose in milk

It turns out that burning my nose helped someone sooner than I thought it would! My sister’s husband sent me a picture of Hannah dipping her nose in milk after accidentally getting hot pepper on it while cooking. Also, Hannah is in her second week of nursing school! Go Hannie 🙂

Solar eclipse glasses

I was able to watch the solar eclipse on Monday! I hadn’t bought glasses, but went outside when it started and my neighbor had an extra pair that she had saved from an eclipse in 1994. It was such a cool experience. I couldn’t believe how dark it got outside, too!

Homemade gnocchi dough

I recently made homemade gnocchi. I’d always wanted to give it a try, and I’m glad I did. It was delicious! Definitely time consuming, though. I think next time I make it will be for some sort of special occasion, not a weeknight dinner 😉

Finger bandage

A few days before we brought Mavis home, Jimmy cut his finger really badly at work. He called me and let me know that he was going to MedExpress, then he told me he was sent to the ER. Ugh. I felt so bad for him. I am happy to report he is doing much better now, though!

Red and gray paracord bracelets made from parachute cord

How cool are these bracelets made from parachute cord?! My cousin Josiah made them for me. He is one talented guy!

Zucchini, Japanese eggplant, cherry tomatoes, purple tomato, and green beans from vegetable garden

Our garden is doing well! The cucumbers are done (I think an animal stepped on them or ate them), the tomatoes are ripening, the zucchini continues to produce, the green beans are coming in well, and I’ve picked one Japanese eggplant!

Last but not least, I have a vlog. I think it pretty much describes my life lately. Our pets are definitely keeping me on my toes!

Tell me about your life lately!

  1. So jealous you have a garden!! I can’t wait to start one once I’m living out of the city 🙂

And gnocchi – YUM! I made homemade gnocchi once with sweet potatoes, and it was amazing. I definitely have to do this again soon.

Hope you have the best Thursday, Allie!

    1. Aww, I hope you get your garden some day! They’re such a fun thing to have. It is super exciting to see everything grow, harvest it, and enjoy it!

Sweet potato gnocchi sounds so good! I should have made that!!

  2. I’ve seen those bracelets made from parachute cord. My brother got one a few years ago for a gift and he thought it was so cool! All the dogs in a circle is so cute. It’s great they get a long so well!

Have a great day Allie 🙂

    1. I have no idea how he made it, but it blows my mind that it’s made of parachute cord!! I am so relieved the pets get along well. That was definitely a worry bringing a new pup into the mix!

    1. It was definitely scary–probably more for me than him, ha! He said it was no big deal, but I was so freaked out for him!

The gnocchi was so good!! Definitely a great special occasion recipe to have on hand 🙂

  3. Clay has talked about making homemade gnocchi but it seems so time consuming! I am glad it was delicious, though.

So sorry about Jimmy’s finger and having to go to the ER. I’m glad he’s okay now. Work injuries and things like that are super scary.

    1. It is pretty time consuming and kind of messy, but totally delicious. Store bought doesn’t even compare to homemade. It’s amazing what the difference is!!

I agree about work injuries being scary! I try not to think about how dangerous his job is, haha. When stuff like that happens I always thank God he is okay!

  4. I’m glad Jimmy’s finger is healing! And how great that Hannah benefited from your nose burning incident, ha!

The bracelets are so cool and look at all that produce. Amazing!

The Zottola Zoo! I love it! That’s a great blog name, haha! Hooray for Mavis sleeping through the night! That’s awesome! Watching you do meal prep is making me want to start cooking again. We’ve been working our way through all the freezer meals I made in July so I still have yet to actually cook anything since Little Bit came, ha! I do love those Aldi meat prices! 3 dollars for a pound of pork is awesome!

Oh my goodness, Mavis sitting in her little crate while eating is so adorable! She is just so tiny! And I love that YOUR baby has a toy camera and my baby has a camera onesie! So perfect for our kids, right?! 🙂

Um, that steak… looks… AWESOME! Making me hungry!

So glad the Tupperware didn’t injure Mavis! That would’ve scared me too! I take it Lola was okay after eating all the zucchini? That’s totally an Oreo move, ha!

    1. When I thought of the Zottola Zoo blog name, I was like “Man, why didn’t I think of that sooner?!” haha. Mavis is getting better and better with her sleeping, thankfully! Whew is it rough to get up so many times a night!

Yay for freezer meals! I bet those have been so helpful for you so you can spend lots of time with Little Bit!

YES to the camera toy being perfect for Mavis and Isabella’s onesie being perfect for her!!

And Lola was a-okay after eating the zucchini. Crazy!!!

  5. That’s cool you got to see the eclipse! I was in lab during it’s peak hours, and I actually thought we’d miss it over here in California so I didn’t plan ahead for it haha!
