I haven’t done a “currently” survey since April 2015, so I think I’m due to fill one out again! I always enjoy looking back on what books I was reading, what I was feeling blessed about, which TV shows I was into, etc. in the past. Here’s a link to one from 2015 and one from 2013.

All pictures in the post are from a recent photography walk I took around Pittsburgh!
Current book(s) – Attachments by Rainbow Rowell (thanks for the recommendation, Amy!), Leaving by Karen Kingsbury, The Bible, and I just finished Then Came You by Jennifer Weiner.
Current music – I pretty much listen to audio books, but if I have the radio on in my truck, I enjoy listening to K-Love because it’s so encouraging and positive.
Current guilty pleasure – Long, hot showers. As I mentioned in my last post, winter has arrived in Pittsburgh. Taking a burning-hot shower has never felt so good!
Current nail color – Just a clear coat! I’d love to get a manicure sometime, though.
Current drink – Eight O’Clock coffee.
Current food – Runny egg sandwiches on an English muffin. I’m totally hooked.
Current television show(s) – Alaskan Bush People and Gold Rush. I guess I’m a big Discovery Channel fan?! Alaskan Bush People is just so interesting to me because the way the Brown family lives is very different from typical American life. Gold Rush has been a favorite show of mine for years now as well. I never expected to be enamored by gold mining, but it’s pretty neat!
Current wish list – Hmmm. I don’t think I have anything I’m wishing for or wanting. I have more than I could dream of or ask for in life. I am so grateful.
Current needs – Yarn! My mother-in-law and sister-in-law are going to teach me how to crochet this week and I need to get some yarn. Can’t wait :).
Current indulgence – Daydreaming. About places I’d like to visit, things I want to do, books I want to read, and on and on. Just letting my mind wander to fun places is an indulgence while I’m working or doing household chores. Sometimes my mind gets stuck on the work-work-work track, and taking time to slow down and be creative is wonderful.
Current blessing – My husband and church family. Jimmy is so solid. Sometimes I feel like my emotions are all over the place, and knowing I can talk to him about anything and have his care, calmness, attention, and understanding means the world to me. My church family is a blessing because it’s incredible to live life surrounded by people who have the same beliefs and goals in life and are supportive and loving. One of the best things about being a part of a church is the deep connection and love I get to experience. There’s nothing like it!
Current excitement – I was asked to give a devotional during a ladies’ event at my church this spring. I said yes, and now I’m in the planning stages. So pumped! If you have any topic ideas, feel free to send them my way!
That’s all I have for today. I hope everyone is having a great week so far!
What do you think of Attachments so far?? Hope you like it.
I wish we lived closer to one another because we could have coloring parties and crochet parties (we’re so wild) and talk about books. 🙂
It’s great! It’s so different from other books, which is fun! I love the emails–they’re hilarious!
We are SO wild. I would love, love, love to have coloring and crochet (and cat?!) parties!
And talk books. And babies!
You are going to do so well at the devotional!! 🙂 I can’t wait to hear about your topic and how it goes.
And I’m a huge K-love fan too, especially now that we have Brady. 🙂 I used to bounce between that, sports radio, and the country music station. But these days, I keep it on K-Love, because I like the positive message, the great songs, and the fact that Brady won’t be subjected to topics / language that I don’t want him to. 🙂
Thank you, Nicole! I’ll take all the encouragement and support I can get for the devo! I want it to go well, but I also don’t want to put too much pressure on myself. I’ll let you know when I pick a topic!
Also, yay for K-Love! It’s truly one of the last good, clean, positive radio stations out there. I just adore it. It’s amazing that you play it for Brady, too! I always hear how little ones pick up on language and things they hear very quickly, so you’re smart to play such a wonderful radio station 🙂
I’ve been loving hot showers lately too, but my skin HAS NOT! HAHA.
I feel ya! My skin is dried out to the max, haha. I keep meaning to get coconut oil… Did you mention before that it’s a good moisturizer?!
I have used it as moisturizer, along with other oils like jojoba or anything high in vitamin E. I’ll get some shea butter (just shea, nothing else) and melt them together too with an essential oil to give it a scent, or just plain!
If I could choose to attend a Bible study for women, I would want it to be about how God has made us in His image and we are beautiful women in Christ. So many times I hear women put themselves down or work themselves into the ground to be “good enough” for God. We get overwhelmed and just try to do everything but it is never enough. I’d love to attend a Bible study about how we are enough in God’s eyes. I don’t know if that makes sense or is too complicated =P
That makes perfect sense, Ellie! I love that idea! Have you ever read the book “You’re Already Amazing” by Holley Gerth? The book is all about that topic and it’s so uplifting. I think you would really enjoy it!
Thanks Allie I’ll look for it at my library
Love this! Now I want to do it 🙂 Girl I’m completely with you on the long hot showers and daydreaming.
Oh please do! I just love reading surveys. They’re so much fun! Yay for long hot showers and all the daydreaming!
Current excitement: the first two hour delays and school closings as a teacher! 🙂 You write with such calmness…it seems like you really appreciate and are grateful for everything you have and I love that!! I hope I give off that same vibe 🙂
Awww, I bet that’s the best to experience it as a teacher now! How fun 🙂
Thank you for the compliment on my writing! I don’t always feel calm, but I definitely try to write that way in hopes that it will wear off on me, if that makes sense?! I think you are very grateful and it always comes off on your blog! You always write with such joy and happiness and honesty. I love that about your blog!
The days are getting longer again — I’ve already noticed that it’s not getting dark as early. That makes me excited. 🙂
YES! I’ve been noticing that little by little, too, and it makes me immeasurably happy! Maybe even giddy?! The other day I was grinning look a freak and told Jimmy “It’s 5:30 p.m. and it’s still light out!!” Haha. It’s the little things ;).
Girl, it’s awesome that you are leading a devo at the event! You are going to do wonderfully at it! 🙂
Also, Attachments sounds like a great book! I’m adding it to my to-reads list on Goodreads! 🙂
Aww, thank you so much Rach! I appreciate your encouragement more than you could ever know!
I hope you enjoy the book if you get a chance to read it!
