My life in 30 days, day 25 = A picture of your day
Swim practice, weather permitting π Yes that is me getting out of the pool in a SUSHI bathing suit, what can I say, I’m a foodie!!
Yesterday I had the chance to cook a little bit during my busy day of school, work, friends, etc.
Homemade apple sauce canned just as my great grandpa Ivan once did.
My great grandpa did a lot of farming and had an awesome garden. He lived in upstate NY and even tapped maple syrup. (LEGIT!!) He made homemade apple sauce and canned it in mason jars. I miss him a lot. He died in August 2008 from lung cancer. I wish I would have paid more attention to how he tapped syrup. I wish I would have asked him for his applesauce recipe. I wish I would have asked him for gardening tips. I wish a lot of things but I can’t spend my time wishing for things that won’t happen. I am so lucky to have even known my great grandfather for so long!
I also cooked a little pie/casserole!
Black beans + corn + tomatoes + onion + green pepper
With a topping:
Well, ya see… when I was making the dough … I kind of are a few bites, hence the ‘missing pieces’. Hehe π
It was very good though! The onion, tomato, corn, black beans, and green pepper were all cooked together and the juices from the tomatoes reduced and made the dish very moist. The corn bread on top was crunchy and balanced out the veggies and moistness. I would def. make this dish again π
What is your day like today?
I have that same suit! AH! Finally someone that understand…I used to get joked on so much bahaha.
Your day looks fabulous. π
Are you at University Park?! Meet up!!!
My day was schhool school school (sung to the tune of Jay-Z’s “girls girls girls”
I’m at the New Ken campus π¦ waaaa, are you at main?!
Boo! Yep, I’m at UP.
Let me just say that I love you for having a sushi bathing suit! π And that cornbread topped veggie concoction sounds divine!
LOVE your bathing suit! OMG! So fantastic!!!
To sum up my day in one word. BORING! Lame!
That bathing suit?
Perfect.
That bathing suit is so cute! I love it!
I was home sick all day:(
I tagged you for an award!http://youburnsomeyoueatsome.wordpress.com/2011/01/11/tagg/
Thanks for mentioning Grampa in your blog π I’m sure he’s smiling down on you (wish he’d somehow send down his applesauce recipe too!) and as far as tapping for syrup — Uncle Ray knows all about it! We can ask him next time we go up to NY. I’m sure all of Grampa’s stuff is still right where he left it :(… I miss him too baby.
Love you,
Madre
my day has been stuck inside. I’m going crazy!
where did you get the sushi swimsuit???
I got the sushi suit at http://www.swimoutlet.com it was around $24 π
do you have a certain stroke that you compete in or do you do all four? also, how do you handle the chlorine? i grew up in s. florida where pools are everywhere and it seemed as if chlorine would linger in your hair.
I swim all 4 strokes in practice but mostly compete in breaststroke and freestyle. As for handling the chlorine.. I have gotten used to it over the years, but my hair just gets really dried out! Their are some chlorine removing shampoos and conditioners though π
