Valentine’s Day

Life lately

So, it’s mid-February. That’s weird! Last time I posted a life lately post, it was early December. Here’s what’s going on in my life lately, with some pictures thrown in for good measure.

Life Lately

-The family I work for is still having their house renovated, so my days are extra busy and random. Love it!
-Just finished reading Like Dandelion Dust by Karen Kingsbury and it was amazing! It was also adapted into a movie, which I ordered from the library. Can’t wait to watch it.
-Still staying strong on my goal for 2016. I had one thing pop up that was super tempting, but I took some time to think about what I want to accomplish this year and said no. I think it was a good choice!
-Jimmy and I have started about 50 different projects around our house. I’m most excited to renovate our office. I’m trying to convince Jimmy that we should paint at least one wall coral 😉
-My mom and I are going on a trip together this summer. We’re still in the early planning stages, but I am incredibly pumped!
-I think I’ve finally chosen a topic for the devotional I’m giving in April at my church. Now I just need to work on the actual content of my message, haha.
-Jimmy and I judged a speech competition on Saturday.

Some Pictures

How cute is this Valentine’s Day tree in my neighborhood?! I saw it while I was walking Lola and had to snap a picture. Jimmy and I didn’t do anything super special for Valentine’s Day since we were busy over the weekend, though we did grab a quick lunch at Bob Evan’s on Saturday. I gifted him some dress clothes for church and he gave me sliding under-cabinet organizers. Married life gifts, haha.

I’m still pet sitting and totally loving it :).

As I mentioned above, Jimmy and I judged a speech competition on Saturday for the National Christian Forensics and Communications Association. We were community judges for the home school sector of the competition. We spent some time in an orientation, then chose the type of speeches we wanted to judge (we both chose the impromptu category, where the contestants were given a topic and then two minutes to prepare a five minute speech–intense!).

The kids ranged from ages 7-17, I believe, and everyone was incredible and just so intelligent. It was really tough to pick winners! Jimmy and I were exhausted from focusing so hard at the event. I have no idea how the kids did it, but it was a really neat experience! We both agreed that it was one of the more random things we’ve done together, haha.

Well, I think that’s all the pictures I have that relate to this post. I haven’t been taking enough pictures lately. That definitely needs to change! Thanks for all the comments on my last post! I’m glad so many people could relate on the impact of social media and how we present ourselves.

What’s going on in your life lately?

Those clouds..

Hey friends! Sorry it’s been about a week since I last posted. School work has been keeping me tied to my desk/computer.

I spent all day Friday and Saturday working on homework and hardly made a dent in my to-do list. Not cool. Spending hours upon hours doing homework led me to second guess myself and my course load for this semester. My ego took a little punch. I also got another C on a meteorology test. cloudsThose clouds. You look cool, but I can’t understand you!

Going to the store and buying oatmeal creme pies makes me feel better though. IMG_4932

Life has been full and busy, but I’m making sure to appreciate the little things…

IMG_4949My dad went to Texas for a business trip (I was so jealous) and brought me back a fleece jacket that says “Houston.” I missed him while he was gone, but I made sure to make him a care package full of granola and mixed nuts for his flights, etc.

IMG_4946My mom met up with me at a local park when I had a gap between my classes. We walked around the frozen pond and then got coffee. It was so nice to just talk with my mom. Jimmy and I went to this same park yesterday and saw people ice fishing!

lilyLily is fascinated by my printer. I enjoy seeing the world through her eyes.

IMG_4955I love my “little sister” even though she’s taller than me! Lately, people keep thinking we’re twins or that she’s older than me.

Jimmy and I celebrated Valentine’s Day on Sunday by visiting our church’s “sister church,” going out to lunch, and going bowling! bowlingI bowled a 133 during our second game. It was probably the best day of my life. Just kidding. But not really.

Jimmy made me the best gift ever. You see, I’m a little bit obsessed with corn bread. I seriously eat it every day. So he baked me corn bread and cut it into a heart LOL. corn breadI couldn’t stop laughing. Until I started eating the whole thing in (almost) one sitting ;). I love my boyfriend.
