Funzies

This weekend has been quite fun so far. Jimmy and I ended up celebrating V-Day on Saturday.

What we did:

  • Went to Pittsburgh’s Aviary
  • Went out to lunch
  • Saw The Vow
  • Walked around the mall
  • Had dinner at my house
  • Watched Courageous at my house with my family
Sometimes I think I scare Jimmy because I just text him random things for no reason…

He’s used to it though ;). The aviary was really cool! It was my first time visiting and we saw a lot of cool birds. I almost got pooped on like six times too. Rock on!Flamingos were the theme of the day for Valentines Day. Cute.We also got to walk in a room with really loud birds flying all over the place. It was frightening and cool at the same time. We also got to see bald eagles. I never realized how big they are. I don’t have any pictures from the other parts of the day but I had a really nice time! I enjoyed The Vow but I read the book before I saw the movie and it was totally different (it’s based off of a true story!). The movie Courageous was amazing. It has some great family values in it and I definitively cried like 6x haha!

I’m so much happier this semester than I was last semester.

I felt constantly stressed and bogged down with school work from September-December. I decided to take a few easier courses this semester but I also made an important decision: I decided not to let school work rule my life or stress me out. I know that sounds dumb or simple, but for me, it has been a big (positive) change and I’m happy 🙂

Oh yeah–check out this old family picture I found!Have a great Sunday!

  1. The aviary would be such a fun date activity! It looks like you guys had fun! Love the shot of the eagles, too! Flamingos are always one of my favorite things to see at the zoo!

The old family photo is SO, so, cute! Awww!

Have a great Sunday, Allie! I’m so happy to hear that this semester is going so much better for you! Praise God! Life is too short to be stressed! 😉

  2. Sounds like your having a nice weekend so far! I’m so glad that you’re enjoying this semester a lot more.. I hate being stressed because of school so I totally know what you mean!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!! 🙂

  3. I’m glad to hear you aren’t stressed out girl! That is the most important part. I often wish I had had an easier semester of college but between math and switching…I never really got that.

Was the Vow good-I really want to see it!

  4. I agree with not letting school work stress you out. I think there’s entirely too much stress in college as it is. As someone who’s been out of college since 07, my one regret is that I studied too much and wish I’d missed class MORE! I had a great time and was very involved, but I worked my butt off to graduate with a 3.9 because I thought I “needed” that GPA. Well no, I could’ve had more fun, stayed up all night, allowed myself to make a B every now and again, and would have the same type of job and life I have now- because most jobs don’t consider GPA a big thing! You definitely have the maturity to succeed and know when to study and when to have fun, so let yourself have fun while you still can. Once it’s over, it’s over, and there’s nothing like college life (the so-called “real world” isn’t nearly as bad as they make it out to be, but it’s not the same, as you probably know from reading my blog).

I’ve never seen that Courageous movie but I’ve heard a lot of people really like it. I have heard that song on the radio from it, though (Casting Crowns maybe?). That aviary looks super fun too, except for almost getting pooped on, but that’s how it goes with any animal thing. And, love the old school pic :). I should scan some old pics myself and do a blog like that…

  5. What a lovely day spent with your man. You two are precious.

I am so PROUD of you for letting go when it comes to school this semester. I struggle with this a lot but reading your success is very inspiring. You sound so happy, free, and confident. Go girl!

  6. the aviary sounds so neat!!

and im glad you are putting yourself before your school work. I am finally doing that this quarter too! It’s hard for me since I am such an over achiever, but self-care should always come first, you know?

    happy week to you!
