Husky life

Visiting Phipps Conservatory, Summer Sniffles, and Husky Woes

I took the kids to Phipps Conservatory with my mom this week and we all had such a nice time! Phipps is like a giant greenhouse and botanical garden in downtown Pittsburgh. I think the last time I was there was ten years ago!

Every night, Sadie asks me to read Night Night Pittsburgh to her and she is always interested in the different landmarks. I told her all about Phipps and the butterfly room (yes, there’s a room filled with butterflies!) and she couldn’t stop talking about going. So we made it happen! The photo below was Sadie’s face when we parked and I told her we had arrived.

Pure excitement!

Shedding Season and Creating with the Kids

Niva is in her shedding season. Am I slightly losing my mind? Maybe! Our couches always have a thin layer of fur, I feel like I can see it in the air, and I can pull clumps of it off of Niva’s body all day. Jimmy and I finally got out our favorite undercoat rakes (yes, we have two!) and went to town on Niva one night this week.

The result was that we had enough fur to stuff a pillow. Hopefully that was the last of the shedding for the season?! Speaking of Niva, she and I did a therapy visit together this week at the school for Deaf children that we regularly visit. We love it there so much! Kids + dogs = pure joy. (more…)
